日本の英語教育で育ち、留学や英語圏での生活ゼロの状態から英語を身に着け、英語教育や通訳や翻訳に携わった経験を生かして、独学で英語ができるための解説動画をアップしていきます。
私自身の経験を活かし、日本にいて、日本の英語教育を受けて育った方が、以前に習った知識を活用してどうしたら話せるようになるのか、と考えながら動画を投稿しています。文法を学ぶのが早い、と私は考えています。文法であれば比較的短期間で身に着けることができます。文の形を覚え、後は単語を置き換えていけばひとまず伝わる英語になります(中には例外もありますが)。一方、相手の話を聞く時や英語の文書に接した時のために、比較的細かい文法の解説も行っています。
ただし、文法に従って作った英語が自然に響かない場合と言うのはどうしても出てきます。ただ、文法通りに話した場合、相手にこちらの言いたいことは少なくとも伝わることがほとんどで、そうすればより自然な言い回しを相手が教えてくれるので、さらに成長できます。一方、個別の場面での自然な言い回しから勉強してしまうと、それはその場(もしくは似たような場面)でしか使えない表現であり、あらゆる場面に関して自然な表現をネイティブに聞いたとしても、暗記量も増え、時間もかかるように思います。海外在住の方はそういうチャンスも多いかもしれませんが、日本にいながら英語を学ぶ方であれば、まずは基本文法を身に着け、その先に自然な英語がついてくるものだと思います。もちろんこのような意見に反対の意見があることは承知しており、そうした意見を否定しようとは思いません。一方、このチャンネルの趣旨に共感してくださる方にとってはできるだけ有益な情報になるように努力したいと思っていますので、是非参考にしていただければうれしいです。TOEICや受験にも役立つ情報だと思います。
