LOST EVIL LORE! Here is a backstory of the Gunter and Claire's first meeting in the New World Corporation:
Cutscene “Gunter and Claire’s first meeting”
The cutscene starts with Claire working in her laboratory. One of the management representatives walks in.
M.Representative: Greetings, Claire. I’ve got some good news for you.
Claire: Oh, really? And what is it?
M.Representative: You have a great opportunity to work with a highly qualified person.
Claire: Oh, that sounds enticing, but to be honest, I don’t prefer working in pairs with someone, so…I’m not very-
M.Representative: Oh, Claire, I think you misunderstood. You’re already assigned to work with him. Don’t worry, I’m sure you two will get along pretty well.
Claire: I see…So he’s going to work with me here-
M.Representative: You will be working in his laboratory.
Claire: But I have a lot of important papers here, my necessary devices and other things!
M.Representative: I hasten to please you, the person you’re assigned to work with has the most advanced research equipment. His lab is four times bigger than yours! And don’t worry about your paperwork, I’ll ask someone to transfer everything you need to a different laboratory.
Claire: Oh, thank you. It’s just all so sudden.
M.Representative: I understand, but you’re currently working on world-wide projects. For the sake of many, you’re ready to suffer some minor inconveniences, aren’t you?
Claire: Yes, you’re right.
M.Representative: Well, it’s time to get going then. Take your most essential belongings.
Claire gathered her stuff and headed to Gunter’s lab. Upon arriving, she saw him sitting at the computer and working hard on something.
M.Representative: So, Claire, here’s your new workmate.
M.Representative: Ahem! Howard, you were assigned to work with one of our new employees. Her name is Claire, she’s one of the discoverers.
Gunter didn’t move a muscle. He kept working without even looking in Claire’s direction.
M.Representative: Howard. Do you hear me?
Gunter: So eight times weren’t enough for you to realize that I can’t work with your employees? I’m allergic to their stupidity.
M.Representative: Yes, Howard, but it’s not up to me. I’ve been given the instructions to put you to work with someone and you perfectly know the reason.
Gunter: I hope she’s not really talkative. Leave her here and stop bothering me. I’ve already lost a lot of time because of your initiatives.
M.Representative: Well, Claire…Good luck.
The management representative patted her on the shoulder and quickly walked away. Claire was left alone with Gunter. She stood in the middle of the laboratory, gazing at the various devices, the purpose of which she didn’t even know. After standing in silence for a while and looking at Gunter’s back, Claire moved to her workplace and started laying out her papers. The awkward silence was still present even after she finished.
Claire: Howard, right?
Gunter continued working in silence, as if he didn’t hear Claire’s question.
Claire: So-o-o, what are we working on, if not a secret?
Gunter paused for a few seconds.
Gunter: We’re working on keeping the room quiet. According to the current test, the result isn’t the best.
Claire: How about no jokes? I’m genuinely interested.
Gunter: What’s the difference? As if you’re capable of doing anything, which I highly doubt.
Claire: Well…I’m not an expert, but I’ve spent a lot of time studying the crystals and their matter. After all, I was one of the discoverers and carried out the primary research.
Gunter stopped working and turned to Claire with a serious face. Suddenly he grinned.
Gunter: So you claim you’re capable of something?
Claire: We-ell I’m not sure, but…
Gunter: Alright. I’ll ask you a simple question. In what electromagnetic spectrum does each type of de-matter radiate?
Claire: Let’s see, all three types capture a broad spectrum of wavelengths down to the visible spectrum. Each type of de-matter has a unique one, including radiation from the visible spectrum, from which each type of matter has its own color.
Gunter: Mhm, interesting. Now tell me about the principles of matter radiation.
Claire: In this regard, the studies haven’t been fully conducted yet, but most likely, if we imagine the matter as a point in a different three-dimensional space, it has a potential energy in a form of hidden matter, which is slowly released into the environment, until it completely exhausts all of its potential energy.
Gunter: Hm…Good…
Gunter kept asking her questions and with each correct answer his smile was slowly turning into a surprised expression. When he asked Claire about everything he knew, he was puzzled. It felt like an argument he was about to lose. Then he came up with an idea. Gunter turned around, glanced at his non-functional device and turned back to Claire with a wide smile on his face.
Gunter: How to control the matter in terms of its movement by spatial resonance?
Claire was silent for a pretty long time, thinking of her answer. When Gunter thought he’d won, she suddenly spoke.
Claire: These studies haven’t been thoroughly conducted too, but according to available data and my own personal opinion, the usage of spatial resonance is not the best decision in general. It allows to set specific physical characteristics of the de-matter in space, but is not suitable for transportation. Perhaps the usage of directed vortex flows would allow us to transport the de-matter without disturbing its internal stable structure.
Gunter laughed a little, however, within a few seconds his expression switched back to a serious one. He turned sharply to his workplace and started swiftly typing something on his computer.
Claire: Um…Howard? So what do you think about my answer?
Gunter: Your answer…it is…hmm…let’s see…
He typed something in, and one of the machines behind them turned on and started to rebuild the prototype of the device for the matter control. After that, Gunter took it in one hand, and using a different device, released a shapeless lump of matter, which was turned into a physically realistic ball.
Gunter: Your idea… - He launched a vortex flow in the direction of the matter and it actually got under control, - is WORKING! Fucking hell, finally! It was-
He looked down at Claire and noticed her slight smirk.
Gunter: It was obvious. Frankly speaking, even a middle schooler would guess it.
Claire: Oh, really?
She clearly understood that she won in this little game of recognition of her skills. She asked mischievously and arrogantly a bit.
Claire: So you dropped out of middle school?
Gunter: School is a prison for a gifted mind, don’t you think?
Claire switched to a calm tone and supported him.
Claire: Yeah…that sucks. And still, I had to graduate with honors.
Gunter: Poor thing. I dropped out in the middle of high school.
Claire: Seriously? And what have you been doing?
Gunter: We-e-ell, I’ve been home-schooled basically. Fortunately, my parents provided for all my needs, buying me all sorts of things, from which I was crafting various devices. Drones, robots, automated systems and other stuff.
Claire: Oh, cool! And how did you get into the corporation? I suppose it was a great offer.
Gunter’s mood suddenly dropped.
Gunter: Oh…So you don’t know?
Claire: Umm, no? I was only informed that you were involved in some kind of lawsuit.
Gunter: Really? Do you at least read the news? Politics, you know?..
Claire was confused.
Claire: I lived in a wealthy family and my parents tried their best to shield me from any news and information about what was happening in the world. They told me I should focus on myself and my career and not stuff my head with other people’s problems. So what do I not know?
Gunter: Actually, I don’t really want to get into details, you’ll probably find out from someone else anyway. In short, in the past I seriously…screwed up, to put it mildly. You better not try to search this information on the Internet, the media misrepresents me all the time.
Claire: Well, the most important thing now is that we’re in the corporation, making great and useful discoveries for the entire world, right?
Gunter: Yeah, but…Honestly, If I were you, I wouldn’t idealize the corporation so much and would be rather sceptical about their actions. Believe me, I know what I’m talking about. Anyway…Don’t sweat it. Come on, let’s go upstairs. I need to chug another liter of coffee and can show you how fucking good the local cafeteria is, as well. They have such amazing bread rolls, it’s just insane!
Hello everyone! I’ve been absent for a long time, and even more so regarding news about Lost Evil. I think it’s time to share the information I have at the moment. When I made a humorous post on April 1st, I never expected it would become a reality. The story hasn’t been canceled, but it’s undergoing a deep overhaul, and unfortunately, progress is moving quite slowly.
Over the years since the initial release of Lost Evil levels, the story in my mind has evolved from a simple good vs. evil narrative into a deeper tale where the focus has shifted heavily toward the characters, their personalities, and their conflicts. The story is still in the process of being reworked, but what I have right now doesn’t align well with the capabilities of Project Arrhythmia (even with the BetterLegacy mod).
Here are the options I’m currently considering for implementing the story:
1. A story made in Project Arrhythmia using the BetterLegacy mod. 2. A multi-episode animated project on YouTube. 3. A standalone game separate from Project Arrhythmia.
I’d prefer to realize the story as a standalone game. This would allow me to create my own level editor tailored to the story’s needs. However, there’s one problem: I’m unsure how the gameplay will work. The issue is that in the new version of the story, the Nanobot (the player character in PA) might not exist due to the narrative’s new direction. Instead, players would control all the main characters of the story. At the moment, I’m considering a gameplay style similar to Friday Night Funkin (for battles). The epicness of the battles should stay the same, if not become even cooler. You and your opponents would move across the screen, performing epic actions. Imagine a battle between Gunter and Arvil, where the fight choreography is even more polished, and you control Gunter by pressing the right buttons to the music.
Overall, I’d love to hear your thoughts and any ideas you might have. Your feedback will be incredibly important to me.
I plan to create a YouTube video in the future where I’ll present the concept of how the game could look, showcasing the first ~10–20 minutes of the story and gameplay. This will be another step toward finalizing the direction of Lost Evil’s development.
