The Ponomarev “Vesna” Children's Choir was founded in 1965 by the Alexander Ponomarev (1938-2012). Since 2012 the choir has been directed by his student Nadezhda Averina.

"Vesna" is the winner of the most significant and prestigious international competitions, including the "Grand Prix of Europe 2000" and "Grand Prix of Europe 2017" (Tolosa, Spain), the Bella Bartok competition of contemporary music (Debrecen, Hungary), the 12th International Choir Festival “Silver Bells” (Daugavpils, Latvia). In October 2019, Vesna became the winner of the EBU international competition "Let the people sing" in the category "Children's and youth groups".

The Vesna children's choir has given concerts in more than 50 cities in Russia and in almost all European countries, as well as in Japan, China and Canada. Vesna collaborates with renowned professional musicians, conductors, orchestras and soloists such as V. Fedoseev, M. Pletnev, V. Minin, V. Ovchinnikov, A. Buzlov and others.
