About the Host:

Rodney K. Nickens Jr. is the Host of The Rodney Kendell Podcast!

Rodney was born in Portsmouth, Virginia in the Hampton Roads area in a working-class Black community to a nurse and an electrician. Rodney learned the value of public service from his parents who devoted their lives to careers in the public interest. Rodney began his political career in 2008 as a student organizer for the Obama campaign, driven by a passion for voting rights, civil rights, and social justice. Following the passage of California's Proposition 8, Rodney was instrumental during the marriage equality movement, working in D.C., Maryland, and California. Rodney is the CEO and Founder of R&N Strategies, LLC, a political consulting and strategy firm rooted in social and economic justice. He is a graduate of the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (formerly known as the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.)
