The countdown to seeing y brother in April BEGINS! He’s coming to see one of his favorite bands, Lacuna Coil! I figured I would help him see his favorite band, since he got me tickets to Akira Yamaoka for my birthday. I’m excited for him since he has a meet and greet with the band and I think this is my brother’s first ever musical meet and greet! Anyway...weekend music reaction time!

The next song on the BAND-MAIKO album is “Ansan” which I have heard through the grapevine that this might be a cover of BAND-MAID’s “Anemone.” I wonder how the Maids feel about this! I have also heard that the aren’t friends? THE DRAMA! I’ve been enjoying the album so far. I wonder if this album was meant to be a homage to the Maids but the Maikos didn’t know how to tell them they thought they were cool? Who knows!

🔹Coheed and Cambria - “Gravemakers & Gunslingers”
I have done a couple of reactions to Coheed and Cambria already. The songs I got to experience so far were the longer epic sounding story-telling like tracks. Today we are checking out a song from the “No World for Tomorrow” album and from what I understand is that this a great standard rock banger and has some great musical things about it. There’s also some back story to the performance of the song that we will explore. I’m excited to check it out!
🔹Castle Rat - “Dagger Dragger”
I looked this band up after reading the description I was given on Discord and oh baby, I think I am in for a ride! From what I understand Castle Rat is a Medieval fantasy doom metal band that focuses on lore-heavy story telling. Look...I’m a nerd. I live for this kind of stuff so I am excited to check out what this band is all about!

I saw that this performance was on YouTube and it was sent in the Discord channel. I got curious of what the set list was and I saw that I have heard all of these songs so...why not watch the show? I haven’t given myself the joy of watching an entire concert, so today is a good day to enjoy their concert in Taiwan!

Coming back from Spring Break was ROUGH. Being tired is one thing, but since it’s been warm enough for flowers to bloom and pollen to rise my allergies have been going INSANE! I’ve been sneezing, coughing, and wheezing (asthma). Top it all off, I got sick the other night. I don’t know what I ate, but it didn’t agree with me so much that it didn’t stay in my stomach. I am merely surviving right now. Any other teachers out there? We gotta hang in there. I also read that some of you have kids, friends and family that are or were teachers, and I wanted to tell those of you that I hope that they are doing well!

If you are watching any reactions I have done this week, I apologize deeply. I feel like I am talking about music on a more emotional level than an intellectual level lately. I don’t always like to share my feelings or personal thoughts, but I am feeling tired. It can get tough towards the end of the school year to push through to the end and on top of that doing this, which doesn’t feel like work but still requires me to be present…I am not complaining! This band has a way of captivating their audience by not only their instrumentals, but with their look and performance on stage. My knowledge of this song only comes from CM PUNK’s entrance into the ring at WrestleMania. If you didn’t know I liked wrestling before now...SURPRISE! I told my students that friends on the internet congratulated them for their achievements and they thought it was pretty cool. They don’t know much about my YouTube and Patreon since I try and keep those parts of my life somewhat separate, but I talk about some of the negative comments I get occasionally. I know they are kids still learning and growing, but it can be very validating when my high schoolers say, “It’s funny that people will argue with you about the pronunciation of your own instrument.” I like to think they are my cheerleaders and I am their coach in their corner. I love those kids even if they can drive me crazy sometimes! Anyway…I got sick this week. It must have been a freak thing because I am feeling okay now, but I was worried I would be sick all of my Spring break. I guess you have to take the good and the bad sometimes!

I won’t lie...every time I scrolled past this one when I had to go back to posts before it, I was excited to see that this was the singer from Wagakki Band. I honestly need to dive more into Wagakki Band, but for now let’s check out Yuko side project with her amazing and beautiful singing voice!
🔹chilldspot - “Unbound”
If you give me an opportunity to explore some J-pop with a blend of other genres, I’m there! Apparently they can have a blend of pop with rock, funk or jazz. I’m always down for a good blend! This is why this week was great: I got the opportunity to congratulate my students who made first divisions at UIL Solo & Ensemble contest for the first time at their high school! I sent 13 students and 12 of them made first divisions, meaning they performed to their best of their abilities. Two of those students qualified for Texas State Solo & Ensemble contest which is done by performing their music from memory. I am a proud “mama duck” and made to sure to congratulate them all for their hardwork! Anyway...I had to tell you about them and their cool accomplishments!

My heart broke for her, but seeing how she came through towards the end of part 1 and we have 3 more parts to go! I cannot wait to see and hear more about her life going into BAND-MAID!

This suggestion was meant for Halloween season, but since Resident Evil Requiem was just released yesterday, I think it’s always a good time for a zombie themed song! When this happens, it’s always interesting as to why members leave and how they presevere after losing a majority of members. Okay…”Dilly-Dally” blew my mind. I loved that track because it made me feel like I was in a rock club! I miss club music that I used to hear sometimes when I was a kid and honestly this one took me back to those days. The Maids really created something special on this album! Since I’ve done a reaction to "Zen", I figured jump into our final song on the EP named “Lock and Load.” The title sounds intense, so I am wondering if that is what I am going to get!

I have seen RWBY on Hulu while scrolling through the streaming service for something to watch as background noise. I’m excited to check out the music from the show!

I have made it through a full week of school after having an unintentional ice holiday. I don’t know what happened, but I had a lot of energy this week so a new project is coming! If you don’t mind, I’m going to plug it one more time in this post!
2026 Grammy Reactions:
My editor Neenx, a recent film school grad who loves music (also “YAY” to their graduation!), was talking to me about the Grammys and I didn’t have much to say about it since I’ve never watched an awards show in my life! I never really cared about them much, but since I don’t listen to much mainstream music, I thought it would be fun to dive into artists and genres that I haven’t listened to very much on this channel. I understand that this isn’t everyone’s “cuppatea,” but I appreciate any support with this project!
BAND-MAID Sunday:
I absolutely love last week’s reaction. “SION” was such a beautiful song and after being informed about why the song was made just made the song that much more special. This week we are continuing our perusal of the SCOOOOOP EP with the next track called “Dilly-Dally.” This phrase lives rent free in my head because as someone who grew up in West Texas, I heard it all the time from teachers and parents! The first time I heard the Maids use this phrase in “Moratorium” really threw my for a loop! I can’t wait to hear what they have with this song that owns the title!

This Sunday we are checking out some Korean Metalcore! Synsnake was formed in 2015 by their bassist and guitarist who were students in high school at the time. They attracted attention to metal listeners because they had a female vocalist, which was rare! Let’s discover them together!

If you don’t know, Lawrence is a sibling duo. Clyde plays keys and Gracie sings. This group holds an interesting corner in my mind because I think their music is great and their sound makes me want to groove! There’s another reason why, but I will talk about it on Patreon!

I was so full of energy this week and I don’t know where that energy is coming from! This Grammy project is not huge, but doing 2 weeks of reactions on top of the regular schedule is crazy...right? Maybe a little, but I am excited to share this with you!

Surprise!
I wanted to try a bigger project this month (to see how I feel about doing these every now and then) and I figured this would be a good way to celebrate hitting 50K and the Grammy's at the same time.
I don't listen to the radio and the most I hear of mainstream music is from snippets in social media.
I thought this would be fun to go down an adventure to select artists from each category and listen, react and analyze their music!
I hope you'll join me on the journey for 2 weeks with a video posted every afternoon!
I'm excited to share this with you and cannot wait to listen to some new music!
