We survived the first full week of January! Yaaaay! I started the week off strong and then Thursday rolled around and I crashed. I'll tell you after I cover what we are looking at this weekend!


BAND-MAID Sunday:

Since I have already covered the Ready to Rock MV we are going to watch the official Live video! Guys...look...I was DYING staying away from reacting to this live video. It came out and the amount of FOMO I had seeing everyone talking about it made me feel like how my dog looks at me when I am eating whipped cream….and he LOVED whipped cream! I cannot wait to see this for the first time!!!

Boston - Foreplay/Long Time

I know this band! I rarely react to bands that I know, but funnily enough my knowledge of this song and the band Boston in general is lacking. As I have said before, I would like to do more research on bands and artists so I cannot wait to dive deeper on who Boston is while checking out a new song for my ears!


Sohyang, YDG & Zairo - Gangsta's Paradise

I see “Sohyang” I click. Period. I won’t lie though...I didn’t expect to see a cover of “Gangsta’s Paradise” being a song that she covers. I cannot forget to mention the others performing with her. I don’t know who they are yet, but I am excited to see who YDG and Zairo are as well. I absolutely loved Coolio’s version...as well as Weird Al’s cover, so let’s see what art is made here!


BAND-MAID - Ready to Rock (Instrumental)

I hope you guys didn’t mind my late unboxing of the SCOOOOOP album on last week’s video. I know I am really late to the party, but I was really excited to share that moment with you. Anyway, there’s an instrumental DVD in this box set. We are going to check out the instrumental of “Ready to Rock” because I really loved the opportunity to see those white room instrumentals so hopefully this is what that is as well!

Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 12


I thought I was going to be able to make through this season without tears. I was VERY wrong. This episode broke me in more ways than one. This show does such a great job in showing the character growth of Kumiko from her unsure beginnings to her final year at school in band. This episode does such a great job of showing what it’s like to be a good musician. We want to win our auditions, but sometimes it’s just about the enjoyment of playing with others...but the ego wants the best experience possible so we try our best even if the competition is our friend. Ugh...this is such a good episode!


The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 18

This episode was a ride. I thought that for a moment that Maomao didn’t know who her biological parents were, but it seems like she’s been withholding information from us viewers the entire time! I should’ve known that she would do such a thing since she’s so good at acting like she knows nothing when necessary. The story is heating up!


K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 11

I get this episode. I’ve been in this situation. I NEED MY AIR CONDITIONER. I actually will choose where to sit in a room based on the location of the air flow. I would rather be cold and wear layers than be hot and sweaty because I am a sweaty lady...and I am not ashamed of it!


When I got home on Thursday, I put my flute bag down got into my PJ’s and flopped into bed with snuggles from Boston. I was out the entire evening. I eventually woke up, got myself some crackers for dinner (mainly because you can eat crackers in bed) and resumed bed rotting. My energy gave out sooner than I thought. I hope your first full week of January was great if you set some resolutions that you are sticking to them. If not, who cares?! You tried, so good for you!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I only have a few days left of break and I am already ready to complain, but I WON'T! I am going to try going into the new year with a positive attitude and leave my heart open to new feelings and my mind open to new ideas. I'm excited to be back after a tiny break. I MISSED YOU ALL! - The votes are in...we start the new year off with BAND-MAID's new EP titled, SCOOOOOP! I have not heard the first song of the album yet so we begin with "Present Perfect." I am excited because I've seen the thumbnail of the music video that was released a while back and I have been waiting patiently ever since...! Let's gooo!

- Bray me - "マーリー" (Marley)
I found this band's name interesting only because I thought "braying" was the sound a horse made but now that I think of it...it's "neighing." Anyway, from what I understand this band has a calm but upbeat sound and I cannot wait to dive in to hear what this band has to offer my ears!


- King's X - "It's Love"
I did more research on this band again before this reaction. I felt like the first reaction I did to King's X was centered around their label that was thrusted upon them as being a Christian band, but after doing more research...I think I found more cool info that makes their music even that much better!


- BAND-MAID - Zaiko, 2025 Tokyo Garden Theater online Okyu-ji
I was given access (thank you, Eaglez1!) to the most recent online concert...so we are going to listen to the live version of "Present Perfect!" I am so excited since I didn't get a chance to see it due to the timing of the concert. I cannot wait to share this moment with you all!

- Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 11
Kumiko is starting to see through to what Mayu is doing, and honestly I don't blame either one of them for acting the way they are. Mayu is playing mind games with Kumiko whether it's intentional or not, and Kumiko is lifting her up without meaning to. It's time for Kumiko to try and take back the soli. She is also finally decided that she does not want to go to music school which makes Reina think their friendship is over.


- The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 17
Jinshi goes on a quest disguised as a commoner to a location that has courtesans. Maomao accompanies him dressed as a higher ranking member of society. We learn what lessens the quality or price of a courtesan and it turns out that losing one's chastity is bad and even worse...a pregnancy.


- K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 10
This episode is my favorite one out of both seasons. I am Sawa-chan. I am that teacher. I try not to share what I was and what I did or what I looked like growing up, but sometimes it's nice to have a conversation with my students about the kid I was because I want them to know that I was cool and that it's okay to be a little different growing up. I like to show them what I was like as a kid and then show them that I am still that kid, but in an adult's mind and body.


I hope that your year has had a good start. I am not one for toxic positivity, so I believe that you are allowed to have bad and good vibes. It's what you do with those vibes that make a difference. I have been cozy gaming a lot lately. I got some of my favorite things for Christmas like single player board games, skincare, music...It's been lovely. I hope the holidays were good to you as well!

Hola Familia!

I know that it’s a Tuesday, and I normally don’t post messages except on the weekends, but I wanted to tell you and ask you something…

This is so weird for me, but I am going to take a small break from Patreon and BAND-MAID Sunday this upcoming weekend.

I am traveling tomorrow to see family and will be with them until Saturday, and I want to do my best to be present the entire time. Since I don’t know how to take a break and not do something, this is probably a healthy move for me…😅

Regular YouTube videos will still be posted since those are pre-recorded, and my editor is a beast (thanks, ⁨@lolneenx⁩)!

Here’s where I need your help!

I was so unsure of where to go with this weekend’s BAND-MAID Sunday reaction that I thought it would be a better idea to ask the viewers what direction they want it to go!

I know the next album in the series is CONQUEROR, but the BAND-MAIKO EP came before that… and I have my copy of SCOOOOOP sitting in my office, staring at me unopened.

4 DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!

I am SO sorry. This is more late then it needed to be. I’ve been taking advantage of the last few days staying up late and playing some videos games that I have been wanting to play for a little bit...which means I procrastinated last night making this post for today. I know my gamers out there understand, but there’s no excuse for turning in a late assignment! I am excited to get into these reactions this week!

BAND-MAID Sunday:

- I’m coming down from a high that was the World Domination album. I have the same feeling I have when I finish a recital; happy to have the experience, but sad that it’s now over. Sort of...😉This weekend I am excited to FINALLY get to the Ohrenje MISA documentary. Ever since I was told it was up, it’s been screaming at me in the back of my mind! It’s time to learn about bassist, and my role model...MISA.

Mizuni Ukikusa - “Town”

- I am excited to check out this band again. They have a sound that is familiar, but so unique in it’s own way. Every time I have listened and reacted to them, their sound guides me in a new direction that I didn’t think this band would take me. If you haven’t heard them yet, I would check them out!

Muses - Twilight of Rio

- The last time I reacted to Muses, I was musically being taken to space and winning my first imaginary speedway race! I really love this group because their instrumentals really build a vision of what they are trying to get across with their music. To me it feels like a story unfolds with their sound and I love it! Apparently this one has a Latin flair to it, so let’s go!

BAND-MAID Interview! - Herman Li of Drangonforce talks with Miku & Kanami

- We are taking a small break from music this week and returning with some interviews! I was sent this one a while back in the discord and I told myself that I would get back to it when I finished reacting to the World Domination album. I am excited to hear what the ladies have to say to Herman Li. Also...DRAGONFORCE?!

Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 8

- The three day break is over and now they are at summer camp. This episode has so much tension that after I finished reacting to it, the stress knot in my shoulder from playing flute started hurting. I won’t spoil anything if you’ve never seen this series before, but this episode is so accurate to what happens in band.

The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 14

- Slowly but surely the drama unfolds...a new consort has arrived, an mysterious explosion with evidence left behind, as well as a new character that I STILL haven’t heard enough from. What’s happening? What’s going to happen?! I NEED MORE NOW!

K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 8

- I really think it’s funny that there is a little bit of a thematic crossover with K-ON! and Sound! Euphonium when it comes to career choices for our main characters. Both Yui and Ritsu aren’t sure what they would like to do as a career and aren’t sure what they would be good at. Yui turns in multiple versions of her career idea plans, but Sawako rejects them. She even rejects Yui’s “do the best I can” plan.

On a non-music note, I am replaying some games that some of you might be interested in. I 100% the Silent Hill 2 remake. This series is my favorite and I felt it was only right to do so. I cannot wait for the remake of the first Silent Hill to come out! I am now onto the Resident Evil 2 remake and working on my speedruns. I want to attempt to unlock all the records in that game. It’s a lot, but I like a challenge. I would love to hear what you’re playing if you are a gamer!

School of Fish - 3 Strange Days
- A PANIC suggestion incoming! From what I understand is this band lost out in the “AAR” or “appearance approval” war when sent to the approver. I was also told that this group sounds similar to another band called Collective Soul. Now...don’t hate me. It took me a few minutes and a quick Google search to make sure I knew what Collective Soul sounded like. I discovered that I knew their music but not their name. I am excited to check out this band that was lost to time!


BAND-MAID - “DICE,” score analysis & Yokohama Arena 10th Anniversary Tour 2023
- This is the final song of our score journey is “DICE,” and you know how I feel about score study! I cannot wait to see what all I can find within the score and of course just getting the opportunity to see into Kanami’s musical mind. With the live, I was told that there is a cool Misa bass intro to this. Is there anymore I need to say about this live performance? Teehee!

Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 7
- This episode was nice to see where the girls were taking 3 days off for summer break and during that time Kumiko had a moment to get to know Mayu. Mayu is a good person btu sometimes her persona confuses me with her sweet outside appearance and her communication skills with the other band mates. She has me on my toes...


The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 13
- The new music, the new intro, the new ending...It feels like we are starting a new season here! We even got a recap of of a little bit of the story before. Anyway, Maomao is going to work in the outer court now since she can no longer work in the rear palace. She has a lot to learn about her new position and there are a lot of new eyes on her.


K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 7
- As much as Mio doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention, it was really sweet of her to let the band host a Tea Party even though she fought against it. The Mio Fan Club seemed to really enjoy getting to see Mio talk to the group even though she was adorably awkward. The song “Pure Pure Heart” I believe was such a good song. I really enjoyed it!


I hope you don’t mind my mindless complaints as of late. If I am honest with all of you, the last few years have been hard with teaching in general. Students feel different. The education system is VERY different and...well, it feels like I have to give everything I am to my students and it can feel like I have nothing left for myself at the end of the day. Oh well...I love teaching, but it’s nice to have this space to just talk about music and play for you all. I’ll leave it there!

It’s the first weekend back from a long break and WOOF it was a week. I had students in tears. I had students who were trying to get out of auditions. I even had students who were just unprepared. I need these next 2 weeks to FLY BY because I need more time to mentally relax so all of us, students and teachers, can look forward to a new year!

BAND-MAID Sunday:


- The journey to the end of the album is coming. It’s bittersweet, but there is still so much BAND-MAID content and music to get to that I can’t be too sad about this! The journey continues with “Alive or Dead” and from what I understand, the lyrics were inspired by Miku’s interest in crypto currency. I have very little knowledge of crypto and I haven’t done enough research into it, but I believe 1 bitcoin is a lot, right? I’ll stick to what I know and talk about the music!

Muse - “Madness” (Live Lounge Special)
- I usually wouldn’t do reactions on songs that I know, but I want to make an exception here and there are reasons why. I listened to Muse growing up and I really enjoyed their sound. The first time I ever heard “Madness” was on the radio and I remember thinking that their sound had changed so much from what “Time Is Running Out” and “Knights of Cydonia” sounded like. In all honesty, this is my opportunity to see what this song would be like live. It’s nice to have an opportunity to see into how these songs were made, how they were produced, and how they can be played live.


Zutomayo - “KUZURI”
- Okay...the last time I did a reaction to this musical group I was last year and that means it’s been too long. I am glad this group is coming across my reaction suggestions because this ensemble is insanely talented with their instrumentalists who play normal instruments and those who play...well...the less conventional ones like CR TV drums. Yeah, you read that right. There’s also an electric fan from what I remember. I can’t wait to check out this track!


BAND-MAID - “Alive or Dead”, World Domination 2018
- I am bummed again that I don’t have a score for this song, but it’s okay. I, again, get an opportunity to enjoy a live performance by the maids. I think by the end of this, I might have seen a majority of the 2018 World Domination Tour concert on Prime! I’ve heard this song is really great, so I cannot wait to do both the studio track and live reactions.

Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 6
- A rough week in teaching music made watching this show bittersweet. The first round of auditions have come and you can feel the tension start to rise as the students begin preparing. I like the idea of holding more than one audition because any student can improve on their own before the next audition. We will have to see what comes from this current ensemble.


The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 12
- I LOST MY MIND IN THIS EPISODE. Guys...this anime is so good. Since Maomao was connected to the events that went down in the rear palace, she was basically told with the rest of the members who served in that palace, to leave and that they were being let go. Maomao wanted to stay, but her ability to communicate what she really wants is not one of her strong suits. Luckily, Master Jinshi finds her while working for the brothel. This episode had me sweating!


K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 6
- This episode was such a good one. I don’t know about you guys, but I personify my personal belongings. My flutes have names, my car has a name. Even my Kitchenaid mixer has a name and I talk to all these objects like the are human because I believe in talking to objects in a positive way so they function better for me.


Have I said enough how much I love this time of year? It’s not only the “smell” of the holidays in the air, but it’s also the shopping! Hah! I love the hustle and bustle of going to the mall, but I feel like everyone online shops these days. I really want to go shopping for some new threads. I am trying to start dressing in colors that compliment my skin tone...not that this super interesting, but just thought I’d share!

The week is coming to an end I am sad about it. I need more time to just be at home. Having the opportunity to work from my bed has been nice and getting cuddles from my pets has been relaxing. Also, it’s that time of year where I get sick due to the change of seasons so you might notice this in reactions this week...and even possibly the next week as well. I hope I feel better soon!

BAND-MAID Sunday:
- I could’ve sworn that I have done a reaction to “Anemone” already, but I searched and researched and the only thing I could find was the Miku self-cover on Patreon. I was wondering what the Maids were going to put on the album after “Daydreaming” and man, they did not disappoint. The start of “Anemone” is gorgeous, and this version of Saiki’s voice is like candy to the ears. Anyway, I am excited to share this reaction with you!

RUN DMC ft. AEROSMITH - Walk This Way
- I have heard this song in snippets before but I always thought that it was a mashup that someone made. I didn’t realize that AEROSMITH made the song first and then RUN DMC decided to sample the song and thus history was made. This song is very important for pop music history in how it broke down the rock and hip-hop barrier that was still standing at the time. This was a fun reaction!



Dying Wish - I’ll Know You’re Not Around
- As soon as I did a reaction to this band I immediately texted my brother to see if he knew about this band because I was 100% sure that I haven’t heard of them before. According to NittBro, we have seen them perform before when we went to go see Spiritbox a while ago… After that text I felt like I was suffering from some serious memory loss! Either way, I am glad to be reintroduced again to this band because their sound is awesome!


BAND-MAID - “Anemone,” plus a little video cheating...! Live Yokohama Arena 2023
- After listening to the album version of this song, I was wondering what would happen live with a song that starts acoustically. From what I understand, I’ve seen snippets from the 2018 World Domination tour of Saiki and Kanami playing this song live together from watching Ohrenji’s documentaries. I decided since I’ve seen scenes from the 2018 concert that I should watch the 2023 Arena tour version. I also cheated and watched the next song and I will say...it was SO worth it!

Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 5
- This is the first time I cannot relate to Kumiko. I felt like I always had an idea of what I wanted to do when I was going through school. I knew that whatever I decided to do, I would love to do something that helped others around me. I hope Kumiko finds her passion even if it isn’t music.


The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 11
- I’m starting to feel like my mom when she watches her novellas. I look forward to watching this show for the drama it brings and the possibility of figuring out the mystery before it happens. This show is pure fun and MAN I freakin’ love it. This episode was sad but I so called it when I said babies can’t have honey!


K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 5
- While the upperclassmen are away, the younger students will play. I liked this episode because we got to Azusa hang out with a different group of friends. Yui’s sister Ui and jazz club friend Jun are in this episode and this group makes it seem like the other members of the Light Music Club aren’t on a trip to Kyoto. I’m glad Azusa has friends she can rely on besides her band mates.


I forgot how much work it is to cook a whole meal for the holidays. I cannot lie, I am glad I don’t have to cook for my Christmas break since I will be visiting family. I am excited for the holidays though because that means cold weather, Christmas lights and traditions. I hope you are getting those decorations up!

I have been waiting for a break for what feels like forever, but we are here and I am so excited. I feel like I have time for everything, but I am going to try my best to rest this week since I know I will be traveling for the Christmas season. I cannot wait to do some recording and video gaming!

Thank You Scientist - “Mr. Invisible”
- I reacted to this band a while ago. It’s been so long that I am really excited to listen to them again! Last time I listened to Thank You Scientist, I reacted to their song FXMLDR which was performed with the Bluecoats drum corps. Their band has a great sound and I remember being blown away how the corps fit their sound into theirs. This will be nice to hear them alone for the first time!


Soundgarden - “Fell On Black Days”, “Beyond the Wheel” & Chris Cornell - “Preaching the End of the World”
- I had a feeling that I was going to catch some (loving) heat from some of you when I mentioned after my second Big Wreck reaction that Ian Thornley sounds similar to Chris Cornell who I only know of through the band Audioslave. After reading and hearing you all about Soundgarden, I talked to a few friends about not hearing Chris Cornell in Soundgarden and they just put their hand on my shoulder and didn’t say anything. I am going to take that as a sign that it’s my time to explore, so let’s dive deep!


BAND-MAID - “Daydreaming” Live Yokohama Arena, 2023
- I first have to say that I am bummed that there isn’t a score for this song. Obviously I knew this after scanning the score, but still! You all have seen me react to the music video already so I am going to dive into a live version of this song which I haven’t had a chance to see yet! This song is very much a favorite of mine so I cannot wait!

Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 4

- I was wondering how long I was going to go into season 3 without getting choked up. Episode 4 got me. Learning the tragedy the befell Motomu’s family is sad, but now is the reason why he wants to continue music Kitauji. It’s a sad but beautiful story.


The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 10
- What I love about this series is how there are multiple story lines that happen throughout the season and I feel like we are finally coming to a close on one of those stories! In this episode Maomao is asked to do some sleuthing in the rear palace working for Lady Ah-Duo trying to find information of the supposed poisoning that happened at the garden party. Hopefully we get more info in the episodes to come!


K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 4
- This episode is funny and sweet at the same time. The upperclassmen take a class field trip to Kyoto to explore the town and learn about it. I really enjoy episodes like this where you see the OG members of the Light Music Club being...well, teenagers. The silliness on the train ride there and the pillow fight at the hotel is fun to watch because honestly, this is how it is! I remember trips like this when I was in school and boy, they were great!


I need to get all my groceries for the big Thanksgiving dinner. I have some shopping to do before I get to recording today! Let me know what your plans are. It’s always fun hearing what you plan on cooking, baking, or where you’re going for the holidays. I plan on cleaning, cooking, recording, practicing bass and gaming! I am a simple girl. Hah!

This is coming to you extra late from the kitchen. Yeah, I am in my kitchen typing this out. I just had a lovely breakfast of some bacon and eggs over-medium. I had a late start. I am so tired after this week of just surviving the San Antonio trip with a bunch of teenage band kids. I am so proud of the work they did this season and everything that they have accomplished. I am already looking forward to next year, but I am so glad that we are shifting into concert season. I heard the junior high band playing “Last Christmas” by Wham and I absolutely lost it! Anyway...

BAND-MAID Sunday:
- I can see the light at the end of the World Domination tunnel, and I am sad but excited that I will get a chance to dive into the “Scooooop” album. We are checking out “Carry On Living” this Sunday and I don’t think I am ready for it. I say this because when I saw the title of the song, I had to look up the lyrics. The lyrics are sad and beautiful. I am a lyrics person if there are words in a song. What can I expect from the Maids instrumentally in this song? Let’s go!

- Raise A Suilen - “Repaint”
This song was originally recorded by Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and yeah...that is the name of the band. I had to double check a few times myself when I did a reaction to them a while ago. This was suggested to me and I am excited to check it out because it’s a different band and that means we will get a different style and sound. I might actually check out both band’s versions since I was told they are pretty different!

- Nova Twins - “Cleopatra”
First of all, this group has a badass name. Second of all? MORE WOMEN! Yay! This was suggested to me because obviously they are going to be great, but apparently the bassist name Georgia is the one I need to focus on. If you don’t know, I have been learning bass for a bit now and progress has been steady. I am excited to see another woman play bass and show me what the world of bass has in store for me! Apparently she uses some sick effects and techniques. I can’t wait!

- BAND-MAID - “Carry On Living”, score analysis & Live World Domination Zepp Tokyo 2018
It’s score time baby! I don’t even know what to expect since I haven’t looked at the score in a hot minute. Like I said above, I looked up the lyrics and they are bittersweet. The lyrics make me think that the song would be a slower paced song, but given that the only song on the album that I know is “slow” is “Daydreaming.” I have a feeling that I am going to shocked by the instrumentals of this song!

ANIME Reactions:

- Sound! Euphonium - Season 3, Ep. 3
I absolutely loved this episode. Kumiko did such a beautiful job protecting the freshman class of the band. She was told that they were considering giving up and quitting, but she made sure to listen to those who informed her of what was happening. The scene between her and Sally was such a beautiful moment, and also listening to how she praised Sally for encouraging her classmates almost brought a tear to my eye!

- The Apothecary Diaries - Season 1, Ep. 9
This anime is a powerhouse. There have been a few side stories going on that keep my interest even though I was still wondering what happened at the Garden Party from a previous episode. In this episode we see an acquaintance of Jinshi die while drinking at a party and a servant’s body turns up in a moat. Both deaths are written off as self inflicted, but Maomao sees that there is more to each story,

- K-On! - Season 2, Ep. 2
This show just straight up puts a smile on my face. It’s a nice way to end my reactions because I know I am just going to giggle at these 5 girls doing what they need to keep the band going, but also doing what is best to keep their musical family a family. It’s heartwarming. In this episode Ritsu wants more of the spotlight so she decides to pick up a different instrument. But who will be the drummer now?

The holidays are coming up guys! It’s my favorite time of the year! I love Thanksgiving and I just adore Christmas. The lights, the food and the other customs and traditions that other families celebrate in their households are so fun! We also cannot forget the FOOD! I cannot wait to decorate my office for videos.
