Last Saturday (13th December), I uploaded a video of my visit to the Christmas Tree Festival at the church of St John the Evangelist in Caterham, Surrey, England. They have now informed me that the winning tree, as voted for by the visitors, was the one shown here. It was made by the St John's School PTA to promote their Once Upon a Bus Project. Congratulations to them!
In addition, the Christmas Tree Festival itself raised a remarkable £547 for the church's Accessibility Project, which was far higher than expected. If you haven't yet seen the video and would like to take a look, please click on the link here:

As promised, I have a very special video coming to the channel from 7pm GMT on Saturday, 13th December 2025. This is the one mentioned in my recent post, where we were invited back to a previous location to cover a wonderful event that was raising money for a very worthy cause. Please take a look and, as always, leave me your thoughts and comments. 👍😀

As many of my regular viewers and subscribers will know, I have been following the story of the Godstone Sinkhole since it first opened and hit the headlines in February this year. In August, I made my fourth visit, and progress appeared to be good. Confidence seemed to be high about having the work completed by December. However, I have just made my fifth visit to the site and found a very different story. Investigations into the lost tunnel network are still ongoing, and the ground remains too unstable and unsafe to take the next phases of the necessary work. As a result, there is no longer a reasonable estimate for completion in place. To find out the full story, please watch my latest video, which will be available to view from 7pm GMT on Saturday, 29th November 2025.

This may seem a little random, but I felt I had to share the wording of this sign with you! We spotted it at a recent event. They don't have "Toilets"; they have "Lavatories, Baby"! 🤣

For some time now, I have been wanting to add a piece of genuine World War I Trench Art to my history collection. However, that proved to be a little trickier than I had expected. Many of the items available on the market are either copies or cannot be definitively dated to the Great War period. Some claim to be genuine but are questionable, whilst others are massively overpriced! However, earlier this year, I finally found an old artillery shell casing being sold at auction that "ticked all the boxes". With its original markings still intact, it was not only genuine but researchable. That wasn't an easy task, but the story that unfolded was remarkable and thought-provoking. In my latest video, I would like to share that with you. It will be available on my channel from 7pm GMT on Sunday, 16th November 2025. Please take a look and, as always, leave me your thoughts and comments.

My latest video will be available from 7pm GMT on Saturday, 1st November 2025. This time, we're looking back to the Battle of Britain in 1940 and the extraordinary bravery and parallel lives of two brothers, who both served as fighter pilots with Royal Air Force. Their parallel experiences culminated with eerily similar conclusions. In the video, I visit some of the locations and tell one of the most moving and tragic tales I have ever covered.

Today, Sunday 26th October 2025, the UK put its clocks back. This brought an end to this year's daylight saving, as we reverted once more from British Summer Time to Greenwich Mean Time. However, have you ever wondered about the history behind why we do it? A couple of years ago, I made a "Short" video to tell the tale. Please follow the link here if you'd like to take a look!
