Hello and welcome to my channel. My name is Russ, a life long carpenter. I am one of those fortunate people who knew what i wanted to do when i grow up from a very early age and have followed through with my dreams. My passion is making beautiful things from wood and I also like to dabble in the dark art of metalworking and other skills from time to time. This channel is about pushing the boundaries of my craft while making innovative, unique and interesting projects, I hope the content i make will inspire others to follow their dreams, try new ideas and make interesting projects of their own.

This can't be normal!? So I'm gonna take my blow torch to work but I'm walking so I wanna take the handle off the gas bottle so it'll fit in a shopping bag; I unscrew it a bit and hear a little hiss when the gas stored in the handle is released, then as soon as I fully unscrew it, it proceeds to discharge the entire contents of the gas bottle!! Almost got frostbite on my hand and then had to run to front door, unlock it, slam it open and throw it out, still blasting frozen propane everywhere!! If there had been a naked flame nearby, I would have been in big trouble!
It isn't the kind of bottles you pierce when you first use it, like you see with camping gas. This has a schrader valve in it. It doesn't say not to remove until empty, and I'm sure Ive swapped heads on bottles before? Bloody dangerous if you ask me. Photo shows bottle after it had settled down, covered in frost do the expanding gas cooling effect.

Many years ago when I first started making videos, I would post the video without subtitles and then add them into the youtube closed caption system. With this method I would get a lot of viewers asking what is going on? why is there no narration? (even though I put a big screen in the beginning of the video saying "Turn on CC for narration" in massive letters! And the youtube analytics showed only about 2% of viewers would use the closed captions.
So later I started to hard code the subs into the video so that everyone can see them without having to enable CC on the video. I know this can be a pain if you don't usually have them enabled, in fact the only channel I know of that does it this way is Primitive Technology.
Today though, the analytics say 37% of viewers use the CC feature and I do get a few comments saying the CC's and my hard coded subtitles clash, making it difficult to read. Obviously I Want to keep the youtube closed captions because it helps viewers with poor eyesight or small device screens to read the subs, plus it enables automatic translation and also helps with SEO (search engine optimization), but should I keep the hard coded ones? Do the other 57% of viewers mind turning on the CC if they want to read the subs?
Thanks for your input!

I DO NOT USE TELEGRAM!!
For a while now ive been getting notified by viewers that they have recieved replies to comments they have made on my videos, these replies are an imposter asking to be contacted via telegram to recieve a prize or some other BS. THIS IS A SCAM. I have tried to ban them all but they keep coming back and it is impossible to keep up as they can easily create new accounts, this is quite common throughout youtube so please just be on guard for nonsense. There are even videos on Youtube of these idiots getting busted.
I will NOT EVER try to contact anyone out of youtube or ask for personal details etc. etc. And as im a Yorkshireman I will NEVER EVER EVER offer free prizes! im too tight!
Good luck using the internet.
Regards.

I was just sent this photo by Jochen, from Germany. He has made this nice little table after being inspired by my video; Making a layered plywood hifi unit. Jochen is finding inner peace by doing some wood working after resurecting an old passion and hobby! Good job Jochen and thank you for reminding me why I do this!
