This can't be normal!? So I'm gonna take my blow torch to work but I'm walking so I wanna take the handle off the gas bottle so it'll fit in a shopping bag; I unscrew it a bit and hear a little hiss when the gas stored in the handle is released, then as soon as I fully unscrew it, it proceeds to discharge the entire contents of the gas bottle!! Almost got frostbite on my hand and then had to run to front door, unlock it, slam it open and throw it out, still blasting frozen propane everywhere!! If there had been a naked flame nearby, I would have been in big trouble! It isn't the kind of bottles you pierce when you first use it, like you see with camping gas. This has a schrader valve in it. It doesn't say not to remove until empty, and I'm sure Ive swapped heads on bottles before? Bloody dangerous if you ask me. Photo shows bottle after it had settled down, covered in frost do the expanding gas cooling effect.
