Akil Wickham, whose alias is A-Major The Musician, is a Canadian recording artist, record producer, beat maker, multi-instrumentalist and an award winning Music instructor.
With a rich musical background, having performed in many competitions and festivals across Ontario, Ottawa and New York with Classical and Jazz bands as a percussionist during his high school career, and earning a Bachelor's of Fine Arts Specialized Honours degree in Music while studying Classical Piano from York University, Akil is quite the accomplished musician. During his latter years at YorkU, Akil continued as a percussionist in various ensembles.
In September 2023, Akil was invited to a SOCAN Song Camp session to participate as a producer for a co-write, securing further collaborations with local artists. After navigating through different genres such as Hip-Hop, House and even Classical, Akil found a home in composing Reggae Fusion tracks to add to his repertoire as a reflection of his Caribbean heritage.
