I'm just providing these Quakecon 2010 VODs until better quality official VODs are released, at which point I'll take them down.


Boring shit you don't care about:
The live stream was actually fairly poor quality. The stream was broadcast at a resolution of 640x480, but it appears it was encoded from an interlaced source. That means it has ugly interlacing artifacts, and it can't be properly deinterlaced once it's been encoded. Also, the in-game segments of the broadcast were squished so that the aspect ratio was off (too narrow), with black bars on the sides.

I used a deinterlacing filter which did a decent job of cleaning up the videos, then I cropped and resized them to 960x720 so the aspect ratio is correct and also so that Youtube will host them as "HD."
