Last night I had a dream that I was playing an SNES Castlevania game that was released sometime between Super Castlevania IV and Dracula X. The swinging mechanic from the former was still present, but there were far fewer places for one's whip to hook onto. Probably the most notable feature was a meter one could fill up to turn into a demonic form similar to Dracula's. Also, one of the boss battles used Mode-7 to create a circular 2.5D arena (think Rongo Lango from Klonoa or Wilbur from Shantae: Half-Genie Hero).

*Kuchisake-onna:* "Am I beautiful?"
*Me:* "What's up with that trenchcoat, lady?"
*Kuchisake-onna:* "Oh, uh... I'm a public flasher!"
*Me:* "Yeah, right. You ain't got no nudity under there!"
*Kuchisake-onna:* "...are you using a Homestar Runner reference to avoid getting your face slashed?"
*Me:* "I'm surprised you even know what that is, considering you're Japanese."

I have yet to find a single decent argument for how VTubers graduating for little to no reason *ISN'T* considered selfish. Unlike other forms of entertainment, VTubers can't be easily replaced, especially corporate ones. Dragon Ball media is still being made after Akira Toriyama's passing. Other people are allowed to review movies and board games besides Spoony. But what happens when a VTuber quits? The IP holder is stuck with a character that they're unable or unwilling to do much with. It doesn't matter if the person behind the character becomes indie, because that's not the same character, not to mention they're legally unable to interact with their former colleagues. And yet for some reason, people think *I'M* the selfish one for wanting someone to stay in their comfortable jobs that most can only dream of having (and no, former Kurosanji members don't count because, unlike the recent Hololive defectors, *THEY* actually have legit reasons for quitting).

Of course. OF COURSE Gura would decide to betray us while I'm stuck in the middle of the ocean! WHY?! She was one of the few VTubers that knew what a hiatus was?! *WHY THE HELL WOULD SHE THROW ALL OF THIS AWAY?!*

To anyone wondering (which I doubt anyone will be), I'll be going with my family on a cruise and will be gone for roughly 2½ weeks. Hopefully nothing earth-shattering will happen while I have reduced internet access.

Good News: Now armed with more knowledge of Tokimeki Memorial's mechanics, I was able to complete an entire playthrough without ending up alone!

Bad News: I ended up with Nozomi instead of Yumi. Sure, Nozomi is cute, and I have nothing against short-haired competitive swimmer girls, but she's not Yumi.

I'm not sure if there's something I did wrong, if the game's RNG is at fault, or if it's somewhere in between. Since the English side of the internet seems so clueless, I might just have to do some digging with the help of Google Translate.

Since Valentine's Day is a few weeks away, I decided to play the original Tokimeki Memorial, one of the progenitors of the dating sim genre. At first it went okay - increased my stats, went on some dates with Yumi. Some of the other girls hated my guts because of vague rumors, but I figured it wasn't that big a deal. Then Yumi started getting upset at me for no reason. Went online and found out what the problem was: these "rumor bombs" are like a plague that will eventually make even your preferred character unobtainable. The only way to avoid this is by going against both dating sim/visual novel conventions and real world logic by going on dates with EVERYONE. The worst part is that the SNES version (the only one that currently has an English translation) doesn't have any GameShark codes available on the internet, so I'm pretty much forced to start over.

I can kinda see why Koji Igarashi decided to do Metroidvanias for the rest of his career.

Well, today's my birthday. I'm not expecting anyone to read this, let alone wish me a happy birthday, but just in case anyone was interested.

Why do I even bother putting emotional investment in corporate VTubers anymore when they can just decide to quit for no good reason at all? And no, "health" and "mental burnout" are not good reasons, because they could just go on hiatus if they weren't so stupid.

Someone needs to make a jacket for legs, something you can easily take off as the weather warms up throughout the day (for context, Thanksgiving in my area is expected to have a low of 37°F and a high of 63°F; yes, radical temperature differences like this are common in Texas). Like maybe if they made chaps made from sweatpants material and with zippers on the sides.
