Welcome to Cooking with Denay

I proudly call myself a lifelong student of my grandmothers, Lula Simpson and Avery Rogers, lovingly known as Lula and “A.” I grew up surrounded by gardens, plum, pear, and peach trees that became jars of sweet preserves.

After serving in the U.S. Navy in Japan, I discovered global flavors that deepened my love for sharing culture through food. I later founded Cooking with Denay and the Charlotte Pie Authority, baking classic pies that taste like memories.

A published author, food entrepreneurship instructor, and joyful social butterfly with a rolling pin, I believe food brings people together. Here, we celebrate recipes, community, and second chances. Pull up a chair. There is always room at my table.
