If you missed it yesterday, we dropped a new episode of American Artifact that featured a visit that Dale Dye paid to The Gettysburg Museum Of History. That same weekend, Dale also sat down with Matt Callery on the Addressing Gettysburg - Podcast for a deep dive interview that covered a range of topics from Dale's service in Vietnam to his work in the film industry. It's a fascinating interview that I think you'll like. You can see it on the Addressing Gettysburg YouTube channel (linked below) or listen wherever you consume your podcasts.

Oftentimes, you all will see me sharing content from history podcasters and other YouTube creators. Although some have suggested that I'm "helping the competition", I don't see it that way. I share stuff that I like because first and foremost, I'm a fan of history and want others to learn along with me.
So if you have some creators that you follow, here are a few things that you can do to help them out:
1.) Subscribe & hit the notification bell. When a video sees an initial surge in views, it's more likely to get boosted by YouTube.
2.) Like & comment. Engagement is another metric that feeds into the YouTube algorithm. It's a small thing that goes a long way.
3.) Share, share, share. YouTube isn't always the best at surfacing content so grassroots sharing on social media or by word of mouth goes a long way. Especially for up and coming creators.
4. Watch time. This might be one of the most important metrics that YouTube analyzes. When viewers stick with a video and watch it all the way through, that indicates to YouTube that the video is worth watching and others might want to see it as well.
So what channels or podcasts are you consuming right now? Let us know in the comments.

Whoops! Forgot to do a Throwback Thursday yesterday. I've been trying to get in a rhythm of posting links to old videos that may have not got a lot of traction the first time around. Here's one from a WWI fortress on the Eastern Front that was nicknamed, "The Verdun of the East." Enjoy!

Just finished listening to Jocko Podcast 491 this morning with Henry Sledge and dang, it was good. Henry Sledge is the son of Eugene Sledge, who authored “With the Old Breed” which is my favorite WWII memoir of all time. Henry has a book coming out on June 3rd called “The Old Breed: The Complete Story Revealed” which expands on “With the Old Breed” using material the was cut from the original manuscript. I pre-ordered the book the day it became available and cannot wait to get my hands on it. Check out the podcast and go pre-order that book!

If you've watched the channel for any amount of time, you know that I have a soft spot for helmet art from WWI and WWII. This helmet at the German Occupation Museum in Guernsey might have been my favorite item in a museum that has A LOT of cool artifacts. Check it out in the episode that dropped today.

On this day in 1917, the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (originally known as the Imperial War Graves Commission) was established. Visiting one of these Commonwealth cemeteries is a very moving experience and I haven't been to one yet that isn't immaculately maintained.
You can see a visit that we paid to a few of these cemeteries along Vimy Ridge here: https://youtu.be/cVx0yFwuFLk
