After graduating from the “Béla Bartók” music high school, Teacher , László Hara Faludy studied at the “Franz Liszt Music Academy Budapest” with Gábor Janota and from 1981 in Karl Kolbinger's master class. In 1984 she received her first engagement as first solo bassoonist in the Dortmund Philharmonic Orchestra. She was the first woman in the wind section. A year later she became a lecturer in bassoon at the Detmold University of Music, Dortmund and Münster department. 1985: Prize winner of the “Viotti” bassoon competition in Vercelli, Italy. She has worked with conductors such as Seiji Ozawa, Sir Colin Davis, Michael Tilson Thomas, Dirk Joeres and Heinz Wallberg and performed with the chamber orchestra “Westdeutsche Sinfonia”. She also gave master classes and workshops at various universities and at conferences.
Since 1997 she has been a full professor of bassoon at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. She is the first woman to hold such a position in Europe.
