From the Sidelines to the Shorelines: Navigating the Second Act.

We’re Rick and Tricia. After 18 years of soccer tournaments, German dancing, and music concerts, our twins (Mal and Collin) have headed off to Pitt and GWU. Suddenly, our "soccer parent" schedule was wide open.

Our son’s advice? "Get a hobby."

So, we bought a boat. After a "Bad Idea" (literally—that was the name of our first boat!) ended in a grounding, we’re back on the water with our new boat, The Bright Idea. Based in Georgetown, Maryland, on the scenic Sassafras River, we are documenting our 2026 Premier Season.

Our mission is simple:

Master the Upper Chesapeake Bay (with help from a pro captain).

Document the "Empty Nest" transition with humor and honesty.

Use this channel to help fund our kids' college tuition.
