Los Angeles based DJ-Producers HAMX and DJ Roueche were connected by a mutual DJ friend in 2008 and proceeded to put out an annual mixtape together starting the following year. After the release of their H2electrO mixtape in 2011, they changed their pace from mixtapes to releasing an EP of originally produced material. August 14, 2012, almost exactly a year after their last mixtape, The Suicide Doors, a reference to the late 60s Lincoln Continental, were born with their self-titled EP.
Since the creation of The Suicide Doors, they saw an opportunity not just to be producers, but also perform live. Being DJs first, performing in front of crowds was already second nature, but they wanted their shows to add more of a live band vibe. So, they incorporated a conga drummer, saxophonist and/or violinist to seamlessly join them on stage while also blending in finger drumming and turntablism to create a unique live experience.
