"Action, Reasoning & Time: That's ART to me." Yanque Yip
Yanque Yip developed his visual arts skills academically at Knox College High where he participated and won poster competitions, did his first murals including a mural to celebrate the founders of the school, one for peace day and one that was unveiled at his graduation.
He started “YanqueYipART”, his visual arts business fresh out of high school. He has collaborated with other artists to stage exhibitions, carry out commercial art projects & work on Jamaica’s largest mural.
In addition to designing and creating large murals, Yanque enjoys creating canvas paintings that are mostly surrealistic and expressive of the “higher self”. The subject of these canvas paintings usually stems on the human experience and his/her connection to the macrocosm and the principles of life from a scientific and philosophical perspective. This has a lot to do with his philosophy of "Your Infinite Progression", an abbreviation of his brand "YIP".

Let’s talk about the background.
The mountain is known as Carpenters Hill. The bookshelf is a reference to the fact that Norman Manley was a lawyer. The two oranges (one green and the other orange) are known as the Ortanique orange, which was developed in Manchester and represent productivity.
The plant to the right is known as Anthurium.
In the background behind Arthur Wint is a river with falls which points to the fact that he was from rural Jamaica as he lived nearby Alligator Pond in a community called Plowden. Furthermore, this highlights the whole idea of running, as seen with the running water. There is also a rock at his feet which is a representation of foundation as Wint was a foundational man who inspired many who came after him to win as an athlete at the highest level. There is a plane above Arthur Wint with a world in the background referring to the fact that he was a pilot during World War II. He served in the year 1942 and as such the 42 on the plane is an indication of such an event. The plane seen is called a Spitfire and this was the plane he piloted during that time. Arthur Wint was also a medical doctor, and as such his tracksuit was painted white to put emphasis on his history as a doctor.
The spear to the right of Elaine Thompson's face is an indication of victory. The banana leaf symbolizes that she hails from Banana Ground.
The fountain from Cecil Charlton Park beside her which speaks for itself as a depiction of bauxite.
To the right of Cecil Charlton is a checkered design that symbolizes many things, firstly order as it takes a lot of organization to run an entire town.
Next to the checkered design is a film strip that alludes to Sheryl Lee Ralph’s contribution to the world of acting. This film runs on to become musical strings which represent both Garnett Silk and Byron Lee who were musicians. It continues and becomes a track which signifies the athletes. It spirals around and becomes the rings of Saturn. There is also a football in the background next to Byron Lee which highlights his history with the game.
