Since 1922, the tradition of presenting the world's greatest musicians and striving for musical excellence has remained a constant goal of this famed Los Angeles cultural landmark. The Los Angeles Philharmonic first played at the Hollywood Bowl at an Easter Sunrise Service in 1921 and inaugurated the first official Hollywood Bowl season, called "Symphonies Under the Stars," in July of 1922. The Hollywood Bowl has been the summer home of the Los Angeles Philharmonic ever since. Rock & roll first came to the Hollywood Bowl on August 24, 1958 with a Salute to Dick Clark featuring Bobby Darin, the Blossoms, and others. Since then, virtually every rock star (with the possible exception of Elvis) has played the Bowl. And today the Hollywood Bowl hosts all kinds of music, including rock, pop, jazz, classical, electronica, musicals, reggae and live-to-picture film scores! More info: hollywoodbowl.com
