Saw a centipede crawl across my carpet. I have never moved and lifted a couch so fast in my life! I know there are far worse creepy critters, but Sam had to go! (Yes, I did name him after placing him in his trash can burial plot, no I do not regret it) 😭
Eating cake at 4AM because, well, cake. No special occasion, no dr@gs, no alcohol, no depression involved. I guess this is what I thought about as a child; the ability to break and bend social norms, and enjoy what I love.—All while not realizing that all the downsides of adulthood, too often outweigh the perceived benefits, and that what I find infinitely enjoyable, has changed drastically, and will continue to.
Just a few mind bending movies to love/like: Inception (2010), Cloud Atlas (2012), Interstellar (2014), The Fountain (2006), Looper (2012), Moon (2009), AI (2001), Gattaca (1997), Arrival (2016), The Signal (2014), Push (2009)
As tough a job as being a parent is, because my kids are adults, sometimes, oddly, I miss the crappy parts; putting band aids on a screaming child that has a paper cut (who was mainly screaming because one band aid was not sufficient 😂), cleaning up raw eggs that were air dropped, removing earring backs from ear canals, you know, the usual stuff. Former me, would think present me is crazy for finding this nonsense hilarious.
Unfortunately, most kids seem to go through a phase, where they don’t want to interact with parents, other walking ATM mode. But…some, especially after becoming independent adults, (and realizing life is esspensive 🤭), revert just a tiny bit, in a beautiful, but sometimes annoying way. They hold you hostage in video calls, just so it feels like you’re on the couch sitting next to them, while they game, watch a movie, whatever. No matter the “reason” for the call, these interactions are just another way to say, “I love you.”
Dropped elsewhere on the internet: Thank you so much dear paragraph person, your service is very appreciated, and a necessary preventive measure against unwanted anxiety for those of us who need to know, but also don’t want to watch 30 minutes of every show in existence. 🎉😊😅
Personally, there has been no one more accurate or hilarious than my own children making fun of me by imitating me. Maybe not the mirror I wanted, but the one I needed. Thanks guys! 🤭
