Devon Church (formerly of Exitmusic) announces his second album with the "Ephemera" video. While Church’s previous group Exitmusic utilized widescreen atmospherics in service of tense dream pop, his solo endeavor places his earthy baritone front and center over world weary folk. He explains the new single is “a song about the fragility, weirdness and confusion of feeling like an isolated human being in the modern world, and about taking refuge - in love or god or interbeing or buddha or whatever you want to call it.” His wife Ada Roth provides backup vocals, and costume design for the unsettling video.

Scrutiny, the debut album from Moaning's (Sub Pop) Pascal Stevenson under her new solo alias Fashion Club, explores the mind's complex relationship to morality, and the way structures of power tend to replicate themselves through unexamined habits.

The album was mixed and produced by the legendary Pete Kember (Sonic Boom/Spacemen 3/Spectrum/etc) who has mixed albums for Panda Bear, MGMT, Beach House & more. Lucinda Chua contributed all cello parts for "Sun" as well.
The band explains, "This single was recorded over the last 3 years and the song is what defined the direction for the album. The first idea for sun came during a visit to Brazil. We spent some months teaching electronics to young kids and showed them how to build contact microphones and how, eventually, they could record and alter those sounds. The experience was complex in so many ways. It was hard reaching out to the kids. The violent social environment that surrounded them meant they had unknowingly built behavioral shields to protect themselves. "Sun" is a call for heat, warmth and life. A positive energy shielding, protecting and loving."
We've shared another single from Mint Field's upcoming album called "Delicadeza" along with a video directed by their friend Santiago Arouesty. It was shot in Mexico City and features bandmates Estrella and Sebastian.

The band explains, “This song was the first one we recorded for our upcoming album. It’s about how delicacy can be really intimate, a place where feelings are connected. When this moment happens, we learn how to guide ourselves with our own feelings.” Santiago elaborates, "I think of this video as a glimpse into a variety of emotions presented to us in the past few months and how most of us have been living inside our heads rather than in the outside world; from boredom to calmness passing through anger and frustration. I wanted to make a portrait of the times at which we are more likely to be delicate."
Their new album 'Sentimiento Mundial' will be available on September 25th.
