Hi! I'm Patrick, your friendly local beekeeper and the heart behind Calalta Bee.
My beekeeping journey kicked off in 2022. I started as a volunteer at Land of Dreams (LOD), learning hands-on with my mentor Dean. I quickly fell in love with bees, their rhythm, and the amazing connection they bring between people and nature.
In 2023, I got my beekeeping license from the Calgary District Beekeepers Association and launched my own apiary! That year, I successfully grafted 90 queen bees and harvested an incredible 105 kg of honey from my first hive. This early success even led to an invitation to manage the entire LOD apiary. We totally crushed it, producing 170% more honey than expected last season!
Through Calalta Bee, my goal is to share not just how to keep bees, but also the joy, sustainability, and community spirit that comes with it. Thanks for joining me on this sweet adventure!
