Concerned African Women, Inc. (CAW) was founded in 1989 by three women dedicated to teaching children of African descent about their history and heritage. Starting with Swahili and the arts, CAW soon launched a literacy program to address low reading levels among middle schoolers. Today, with a team of 99 professionals and strong community partnerships, CAW offers programs rooted in self-awareness, culture, and empowerment. From academic enrichment to artistic expression, each initiative fosters identity, confidence, and leadership. Every program begins with a “Daily Pledge to Myself” and a Swahili anthem, reinforcing values of respect, courtesy, and positive communication.
