The Stockton Maritime Museum is located in Stockton, California and is home to the USS Lucid (MSO-458), the only surviving U.S. Navy wooden minesweeper in its class in the United States.
MISSION
To create a permanent museum providing public access to Stockton’s historical maritime industry and culture, and dedicated to the recognition of our historic downtown waterfront.
For the last decade, we have been restoring the USS Lucid AM (MSO-458) to promote an appreciation of the history of American Naval Minesweepers, in particular, those that were built right here in California's inland port, Stockton, CA. Eventually, we will move Lucid to the historic downtown waterfront area near Weber point, where over a thousand boats and ships were built beginning in the 1850's through the 1980's. There, Lucid, and future museum buildings will serve to honor Stockton's shipbuilding history, and those who served aboard these vessels.
