All about manhood and the French Foreign Legion - Thomas Gast was born in 1961. At the age of 23 he joined the French Foreign Legion, his “school of life.” His first two years were with the 3rd Infantry Regiment in French Guyana, he then served seventeen years, attaining the rank of Adjutant, in the elite 2nd Parachute Regiment (the only airborne unit in the French Foreign Legion), based on the island of Corsica. During this time, he was involved in a wide variety of overseas tours and theatres of operation.
