Is It Any Good? | Powerade Xtra Sour Cherry Kicker

Not sure anyone noticed but we didn't get a video review up yesterday. Life, this past week, got in the way. So, instead, let's take a quick written look at this ginormous bottle of Powerade.

Cherry had me interested and the claim that it's "Xtra Sour" had me intrigued. How extra? Is my mouth going to pucker itself inside out? We could only hope!

Cracking it open I gave it a smell, as you do, and didn't think it smelled like much. Not necessarily "cherry" but definitely not "fruit punch", which is what I'd figure a red Powerade would be.

Taking a healthy guzzle it didn't have a cherry flavor that I could tell. Not cherry candy or even cough syrup, but definitely not fruit punch. Is "red" a flavor? Maybe.

"But", you shout, "how sour is it?!". Well...kinda? It has a tartness, but it's weird. It reminds me of those squeezy plastic lemons that taste lemony-ish but definitely not a real lemon. But was it "Xtra Sour"? No. Not even close. I'm not sure how extra something would have to be but this isn't it.

So, Is It Any Good? No. Sure, it was big, cold out of the fridge, and I finished it off, but it wasn't anything special at all. I'd give this a hard pass if you see it in the cooler.

I dunno about this one. It tastes like a poor man's fruit punch if you made it with Sweet Tarts. It had a chalky taste about it, too, which was weird, and only seemed to enhance the fake sugar aftertaste. Definitely won't be going back for another one of these.

It wasn't very sour and didn't taste much of lemonade, pink or otherwise. It was bitter and unpleasantly acidic, like licking a 9-volt battery but less rewarding.

Mike's Hot Honey Beef Stock from Tillamook

I spotted this at my local 7-Eleven (yeah, the scary one) and thought I'd give it a go.

Smellwise, it had a bit of spice to it but no hint of honey, which I was a bit surprised at. I was hoping that'd be prevalent...nope.

Tastewise, it wasn't very different from any other beef stick you'd stick in your Snackhole™. It was a touch grainy, and had what I think was a seed or two in it (unless it was a bone fragment) but it wasn't sweet at all. It did have a slight spiciness to it but nothing mind-blowing and definitely nothing that said "hot honey" to me at all.

So, is it any good? No. 😒👎 There are definitely way better meat sticks out there to choose from.

Next time, I'll just snap into a Slim Jim!

First one of the Halloween season...yes, your calendar is correct, it's only August, but here in the Colonies Halloween has already kicked into gear.

I'd heard that this year's recipe of Alani Nu's "Witch's Brew" was different...and I have to agree. It's tasty but it's more of a tart green apple, less the buttery caramel that I remember.

But, it's still good and refreshing and is currently helping take the edge off a massive caffeine-related headache.

Just a quick post to note the passing of a true great in music history, the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne. We all can trace our metal roots back to him and Black Sabbath and all metal roads lead back to Birmingham. I'm definitely going to blast through some Sabbath and Ozzy tunes today in his honor, and, if you're even remotely into heavy metal, maybe you will, too. 🤘😥
