Is It Any Good? | Powerade Xtra Sour Cherry Kicker
Not sure anyone noticed but we didn't get a video review up yesterday. Life, this past week, got in the way. So, instead, let's take a quick written look at this ginormous bottle of Powerade.
Cherry had me interested and the claim that it's "Xtra Sour" had me intrigued. How extra? Is my mouth going to pucker itself inside out? We could only hope!
Cracking it open I gave it a smell, as you do, and didn't think it smelled like much. Not necessarily "cherry" but definitely not "fruit punch", which is what I'd figure a red Powerade would be.
Taking a healthy guzzle it didn't have a cherry flavor that I could tell. Not cherry candy or even cough syrup, but definitely not fruit punch. Is "red" a flavor? Maybe.
"But", you shout, "how sour is it?!". Well...kinda? It has a tartness, but it's weird. It reminds me of those squeezy plastic lemons that taste lemony-ish but definitely not a real lemon. But was it "Xtra Sour"? No. Not even close. I'm not sure how extra something would have to be but this isn't it.
So, Is It Any Good? No. Sure, it was big, cold out of the fridge, and I finished it off, but it wasn't anything special at all. I'd give this a hard pass if you see it in the cooler.
