As a kid watching Red Dwarf reruns with my dad I thought Cat was a vampire and Rimmer was a ghost. I thought the spaceship was haunted I guess and I just never questioned it. But here’s what Cat looks like to me now I know he’s an actual cat and it’s not just his name lol

A little test of how I could differentiate Nox from other Funhouse characters, considering the other residents appearing as cartoons on real backgrounds is the product of me having a cartoony artstyle whereas Nox is meant to look like he’s projected onto the scene, like he’s not actually there. The ambient lighting of a room does not affect him in any way, whereas Winston is meant to be a real physical creature, so while he isn’t fully shaded here he still looks like he matches the rest of the room they’re in. Let me know what you think!

What the hellion!
This redesign was based on medieval demons, since that’s what it seems they’re sort of themed after with the horns and how society treats them as ‘bad’. I wanted them to look stereotypically ‘evil’ and off-putting so it’s all the more impactful when you learn the truth, that they are just normal people and that the poppy company is spreading lies about them to justify exploiting their planet for financial gain.

I’ve never liked the idea in scifi of there being species that are wholly good or wholly evil, it’s not realistic to assume entire civilisations of individuals follow the same mindset, and I like the hellions as a direct challenge to that trope. It’s the reason I gravitate towards the daleks and depicting them as individuals with their own personalities and goals in life, they’re the ultimate “this species is inherently bad and evil no matter what” so it’s fun to explore them more under the pretence of “actually what if it was their society that was bad, rather than every single one just being born evil”.

Reimagined one of my kinsonas as a kivouackian the other night. I think it suits him!
People often think he’s evil and blame him for bad things… because he always runs from danger he’s never around to clear his name, people just see a shady figure fleeing the scene and assume he was the cause. He just wants to help people but nobody trusts him…
