Are these mistakes keeping you stuck? 🤔
Let’s break them down, so we can level up together:
1️⃣ Skipping foundational poses.
These are the key to building a strong, sustainable practice.
If you take the time to understand your foundational postures, and continue to study them when you can do fancy things, your practice with thrive.
2️⃣ Staying in the ‘beginner’ stage too long.
I was SO guilty of this! I stayed way too long working to master the same small group of poses. I was waiting to be ready. For someone to tell me it was time.
And, you know what? No one was coming to tell me anything.
Remember: Growth happens when we’re willing to explore new challenges. 🌿
3️⃣ Using the same approach to postures.
Your body evolves, and your approach should too.
And, it is the definition of insanity to continue to approach a posture the same way every time and expect a different result.
Take it from me, when you find other points of entry into a posture, you will unlock your practice from any kind of 'stuck-ness'.
4️⃣ Thinking advanced poses are for ‘other people.'
If you’ve ever thought “I could never do that,” it’s time to rethink what’s possible for you.
I always thought I was too tall for inversions... and now I couldn't imagine my practice without them. They are so fun!
Every posture is for YOU.
5️⃣ Not learning from experienced teachers .
A decade (or more!) of teaching brings wisdom you just can’t get anywhere else.
There is a big difference between the student I was 20 years ago and the teacher I am today.
And, when I graduated from my first teacher training, I continued to pursue further education multiple times each year.
This is not the case for all yoga teachers. So, choose your teachers wisely. Work with people that can answer your questions and guide you further down the path.
💬Which one of these mistakes do you see yourself in? Or maybe a little of all of them? Let’s chat about it in the comments.
If you’re ready to move past these common blocks, I’d love to help you get unstuck.🤸
Big Hugs,
Tori G. 🩷

✨ How has your yoga practice changed this year?
If you’d asked me that question a few weeks ago, my answer would’ve been, “Not much.”
I don’t think about my yoga practice in terms of year-to-year progress anymore. But I got curious and decided to take a look back at some photos from 2023.
And, wow… I was not expecting what I found.
✨ In 2024, so much had shifted:
- I was physically stronger, holding poses longer and staying present even in the tough moments.
- My inversions had transformed—I found better float times and moved my forearm balance work away from the wall.
- I prioritized my stress levels and deepened my meditation practice (20+ years strong!).
- I lost over 20 lbs., not through a quick fix but by dialing in my practice and making choices that truly worked for me in midlife.
- And most importantly, I smiled more, surrounded myself with people who lift me up, and found so much light in the everyday.
✨ Here’s your reminder: one year of practice can create HUGE shifts. Don’t underestimate the changes you’ve made, on or off the mat.
What wins are you celebrating this year? Share below—I’d love to cheer you on!
Grateful every day for this practice and this community. 💛
Big Hugs,
Tori G.

Today I celebrate 13 years of teaching yoga. 🎉
It has been the biggest blessing on my life and I wouldn’t swap it out for any other career.
There are days that are beyond challenging.
There are times when I wonder if the work I do is enough.
But, there is nothing better to me than…
Watching someone go from someone that doubts they can rise to certain levels within their yoga practice…
To someone smiling ear-to-ear because they accomplished the “hard thing” they never thought was possible for them.
And, realizing they are more than just a body, or a person moving through life…
But, a true force in this world.
To all of the students that have trusted me with your practice through the years, I am beyond humbled and cannot thank you enough.
You have taught me in more ways than I can count.
The biggest hugs,
Tori G. ❤️

✨Storytime
When I walked into my first yoga class I was so intimidated. 😬
What if I do it all wrong?
What if I get called out by the instructor?
What if it just isn’t for me?
But, even though the memory of that first class holds with it the awkwardness of not really knowing what I was doing and the fact that I so obviously wore the absolute wrong long, cotton, flowing pants that stuck to my legs with sweat, I walked out of there knowing a yoga practice was something I not only wanted in my life, but I knew I needed it.
And, throughout the past 20 years I have had so many situations where I walked into a yoga class wondering if I was in the right place.
Was the more advanced class really something I should be doing?
What if I’m the only one in the room that has no idea what is going on?
What if I fall or have a major yoga fail?
But, each time I took the classes that challenged what I believed was possible for my practice, it was a big win.
Which is why I teach the program of classes I do each day.
I know what it’s like to feel intimidated or wondering if you can actually do this thing the teacher is helping you achieve within your yoga practice.
So, I help you build your yoga practice from the ground up, with great technique that keeps you injury free.
You deserve to be empowered in your yoga practice and to get the most out of your time on your yoga mat.
And, once you take the scary class, you’ll see it really wasn’t that scary after all.
These are just a handful of some of the yoga poses the T.G. Yoga Community worked through in my classes so far this month.
I have students that age in range from their late 30s all the way into their 70s.
And, they started as you will - wondering if any of this is possible.
But, it is.
Know that. 🙌🏻
And, if you don’t believe that yet, I’ll believe it for you until you do. ✨
I hope to see you in a livestream class soon!
Big Hugs,
Tori G. ♡

✨How it started vs. how it’s going…
So many yogis share their highlight reel, which is awesome and amazing…
But, also so intimidating. 😬
Here’s the thing…
This first set of pictures is 5 years into my practice. It was super weird back in 2005 to take yoga pictures, so these are from 2010.
My teacher walked into class with a real deal DSL camera and took shots of our practice.
So, I don’t even have my beginnings to show you, but I think you can see that my practice has improved. 😂
I know it can be super difficult to take the leap to move into the next phase of your yoga practice.
I had a beginning, too.
I was never someone that naturally “took” to the practice.
It took a lot of showing up and willingness to learn more, to be where I am today with it.
And, there are still parts of my yoga practice that I want to deepen and lean into in the years to come.
If you’ve read this far, this is your sign to keep going and to take the leap to go to the uncomfortable class, ask the question you want to ask, and to learn as much as you can about the practice you love so much.
You can do all of this and so much more. I’ll believe that for you, until you believe it for yourself.
Big Hugs,
Tori ♡

Ten years ago I received a blooming calendula plant as a birthday gift.
It was a lovely pink blooming thing that I knew, as someone that used to used for a flower company and is a huge houseplant fan, would not last long.
But, I enjoyed this gift of flowers and love for as long as I could.
Eventually. it had one leaf left on it and assuming it was dead, I put it out on the back porch to dump the soil and clean out the pot at a later date.
What I didn't know was that my husband still watered it every single day, while watering the other outside plants.
He watered a pot of soil with a single sad leaf hanging off the edge.
Two weeks later, much to my surprise, he mentioned the plant was starting to looking better.
"What plant?" I asked.
"The one you used to have inside," he replied.
Going out onto the back porch I was surprised to see it had new leaves and was starting to look like it would bloom again.
"I was going to throw this out," I told my husband.
"Why?" he asked. "It still had a leaf."
And, now I've had it for a decade and it provides constant pink blooms in my yoga space. I'm wow-ed and inspired by this plant on the daily.
It's much like your yoga practice.
Sometimes it feels dead in the water. Or, that it has gone as far as it's going to go.
But, deep down at the root of it, it's still thriving. It still has one leaf.
And, every time you step on your yoga mat you're building something for you from the inside out.
It might feel like nothing much is changing or shifting on a day to day basis, but if you keep watering it you'll become a shiny, blooming thing.
So, keep going. Keep showing up for you. Keep watering it and watch it grow.
Big Hugs,
Tori ♡
