Midnight Oil are more than just a rock ‘n’ roll band. Since forming on Sydney’s northern beaches in the punk era, this singular band has always both reflected and shaped the world around them. Defiant and uncompromising they have created some of Australia’s greatest rock anthems. After a 15 year hiatus, Midnight Oil reformed in 2017 for an unforgettable world tour involving 77 gigs in 16 countries. 2020 saw their collaborative mini-album ‘The Makarrata Project’ debut at #1 on the same weekend that long time bass player Bones Hillman sadly passed away. Recently the Oils announced that 2022 will see a New Album and Final Tour both aptly called “Resist”. The provocative lead single, “Rising Seas”, calls for “serious urgency” in addressing the climate crisis. While “Resist” will be the band’s last concert tour, the members remain open to recording new music in future and they will continue to support causes in which they believe.
