I started to listen to music with 80's rap, learned some English there, then wondered about rock stuff and always kept reading starpulse.com about all the bands in an attempt to discover more.
Thru this I heard Nine Pound Hammer by Chet Atkins, and it sounded just strange, but somehow I noticed the name. Brother brought home Mel Bay's book about Chet's picking, and it just laid around.
One day I listened to Deep Purple's Lazy from Made in Japan album, and near the end they played something swingy. Turned out it was Swedish Rhapsody and further search revealed that again it had to do with that Chet Atkins guy. Since this is the best part about that Lazy track, I focused on that Chet Atkins guy.
And I mean I went and looked for a tab to be able to play that thing myself, without even knowing how to play the guitar at all. One other thing that helped is that there was a guitar at home already. I did not know that this Chet Atkins guy will become a part of my life.
