Hi, my name is Chris and I am the guy behind Battle(Non)Sense!

On my channel I provide you with tests and easy to understand explanations of complex technologies and game mechanics that have a strong impact on your gaming experience. In addition to that I sometimes do hardware and software reviews, setup and configuration guides as well as design concepts.

With the Battlefield hype train picking up steam, this video feels oddly relevant again.

Battle(non)sense

On Nov. 16, 2021, I officially stepped away from my YouTube channel which was my passion project for almost 8 years. This was one of the hardest decisions I had to make in my life (so far).

In my post I shared some of the things which led to my decision to press "pause" on my YouTube channel, but the main reason I did not share at that time.

In October 2021, after my mom didn't feel well for a while, a massive brain tumor (glioblastoma) was found. The required surgery sadly left her with impairments similar to those of a serious stroke.

In January 2024, she passed away at the age of just 66, which was especially hard for my dad who always took great care of her, but especially during these past years.

At the end of March 2024, my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer which sadly had already spread to his liver, kidneys and brain.
But thanks to chemo and immunotherapy, which didn’t have (m)any side effects for him, he could enjoy the entire summer and autumn spending time with the family and doing what he loved most.

In December he sadly got worse fast, and a few weeks ago, my dad passed away too at the age of 73.

My dad always said:
"Life goes on, because it must.
Do what you love, be grateful for everything that you have, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Don’t be sad when something comes to an end, be excited for what begins next.”

So, I am trying to do that, to be excited for what comes next. 😀

I don’t know yet if I will "unpause" my YouTube channel and start to make videos again, but during the past 3 years I did truly miss it. And there have been many topics where I felt that I could have been helpful.

DICE announcing their new CTE 2.0 aka. Battlefield Labs, which this time aims to involve the community during the active development of the next Battlefield game to release a good game, sounds like something that could lead to some videos.

And having Battlefield restart my channel would be fitting, as the trainwreck that was Battlefield 4 is how this channel came to be in the first place.

We will see.

Until then, take care of yourself and your loved ones!

Best regards,
Chris

Soccer, football, basketball, baseball, .. we play & watch these games because "playing" them is fun.
Videogames used to be like that, but why did that change?
Why did unlocks & battlepasses become manadatory and the main reason to play?
Got everything unlocked->no reason to play
This is so sad.

Some owners of monitors that feature a Reflex Latency Analyser (RLA) reached out to me as they ran into the issue I explained in the pinned comment.
Please see that comment for more information before you start testing.

Thank you! :)

A TOUGH DECISION

Almost 8 years ago everyone was annoyed by the ‘netcode’ problems in Battlefield 4.
Since no one knew what was going on I decided to do my own tests and then create a video where I showed what I found and what I thought had to change to fix that game.

I had no idea that this would set me on the path to create another 313 videos, reach 175.000 subscribers and make many friends along the way!

With a demanding job as an electrical engineer and a little family with 2 small kids it was a challenge to find a good work-life balance. And honestly, I failed at times which is one of the few things I do regret looking back at the last 8 years.

My YouTube channel was always a passion project, I loved burning the midnight oil trying to figure out how a new technology affects your gaming experience, measure delays, working on design concepts, collaborating with developers, creating new testing methodologies and so much more.

But during the last 2 years a few things happened where one event after the other made it harder and harder for me to work on new, exciting and high quality content.

As much as I tried to find a way to make it work, I eventually had to accept the painful truth that due to events outside of my control, I am no longer able to do it - and it is unfair of me to keep your hopes up that there will be new content anytime soon.

So it is with a heavy heart that _(for the foreseeable future)_ I will be saying farewell today to all my supporters, subscribers, viewers, and the many friends I made during the last 8 years.

I wish you all the best! Take care of yourself and your loved ones!

Very sincerely,
Chris

Later today I will release a new video where I show you how to setup a Secure and Kid-Friendly Home Network which does not lag while you are gaming!

Comment: "Radeon Boost is NOT meant to reduce system latency!"
FYI: It was AMD that positioned Radeon Boost as "Ultimate Latency Reduction Tech" - more powerful than Anti-Lag.

Since subscribers keep telling me that my videos do not show up in their sub feed lets try a community post. :)
