With 8+ yrs of experience spanning international development, civil litigation, and academia, here, I, Dr. Nairita Roy Chaudhuri, explore creative freedom & critical ideas to address the planetary crisis shaped by colonial capitalism, climate & ecological breakdown. I do so via two simultaneous modes of thinking: a social mode demanding radical equality among humans towards racial & intersectional justice; and an ecological mode seeking equality between humans and other forms of life for socio-ecological justice. The point is to reimagine just planetary futures beyond mansplained, whitewashed, and monodisciplinary narratives. I hold a joint Ph.D. in Law & Development (Tilburg University, Netherlands & University of Oslo, Norway), where I explored how law can intersectionally empower subaltern & climate-affected communities to adapt to water insecurities, interviewing 300+ participants across rural India (West Bengal, Odisha).
