The history of Kulunda associated with the construction of Railways and the formation of the railway station which played a crucial role in the economic development of the steppe region. According to archival documents, construction of the station Kulunda started in 1917. In the provincial archives a document was found which proves what was the founding year of the Kulunda. The materials of the Kulunda expedition of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR in 1931-33 he called "General characteristics of the district and ways to use the salt lakes of Kulunda steppe". They said: "the Main obstacle in the use of the natural resources of Siberia is the insecurity of its vast spaces convenient and cheap means of communication. Kulunda steppe, occupying a space of ten thousand square kilometers to 1916 were completely devoid of railway tracks... In that year the route was built from station railway Tatar Omsk to Slavgorod with a length of 315 kilometers.
