Hello and welcome to our channel!

We're a single mum and teenaged daughter duo, on a mission to build an urban homestead while we learn some new skills along the way.

Our fauxstead is all about embracing a simpler way of life - being more sustainable, more self-sufficient, learning those skills that are slowly vanishing, and sharing what we have with others in our community.

There's a hefty dose of cooking, favouring plant-based and Mauritian recipes, along with gardening, sustainable practices, simple & frugal living, sewing, crochet and more.

Together we're equal parts Anne of Green Gables and Nightmare Before Christmas, and we have a lot of fun with it.

Miss Fauxstead is currently learning how to cook, bake and sew, while Mama Fauxstead is learning crochet, how to blend herbal teas, quilting and companion planting.
