I am pleased to get you a new clip today on Youtube. There was nothing on the TV, and also nothing on the streaming companies. I am very curious about a new serie by Rowan Atkinson, this time as Man vs Baby. Probably nice to watch in my week winter holiday between christmas and 3 january.
On my harddisk from my cable company I also have a new documentary about the history of Schokland, a former Island on the county Flevoland, which appeared on the same place. Not to confuse with Schotland, the Dutch word for Scotland. It's a nice serie with Huib Stapel, one of the well known Dutch actors, who is the narrater and the presenter of the documentary.
Tomorrow's my sister's birthday. Last month I already made a card for her birthday with puffins, in Holland known as Papegaaiduikers (bird). They live in the north of Scotland. They look very nice! See the picture below. At the same day when I finished my sister's card, I also made my christmas card.
This year I didn't have the pleasure of making one in the beginning. It was already a busy year, and my health was bad at that moment. But that day I started with an idea of my christmas card. I usually use pictures from a visit to the christmas market at my local garden center. I was very pleased about the photo's I took.
I made the card in one day. Later on I got some more problems. I wasn't in the mood for sending the card. But I am glad I did send it to my sister, my mum, my collegaes and my dearest friends. And the reactions were nice! I want to thank you for that. I will get the christmas card in the next blog. Especially for you. You know for me it's not only the music that counts. This year I tried to do all kinds of hobbies I like. I like mixing, I like writing and I like photoshopping, creating images. Hopefully I could give you a lot of joy as well, as I have creating all the stuff.
I am now going to sleep. Hopefully you will not dream about the bird on the photo! Sitting on a rocky island full of puffins! You could find them in Diergaarde Blijdorp in Rotterdam, if you like those birds!
I took some rest today, so I haven´t got a new clip for you. So you´ll just have to do it with some words. I want to talk about the many new female DJs which do/made a lot of good DJ sets on Youtube. Unfortunately it's all about the clothing and the image, because they do very well by mixing the tunes together. And that's what I want to point out, for me it's all about the music.
I wish them a lot of luck. Why shouldn't women play just as good or as bad as men? I think they have the same level. Sometimes it's not my kind of music, especially the hard and fast techno/techtrance sets aren't my cup of deal, but the sets all sound very nice. And the technic is good as well. There's a true invasion in clubland I can tell you. Charlotte de Witte and Amelie Lens are big stars in Belgium and the rest of the world.
Yesterday I already told you by watching 'Wicked' at Skyonline. This coming week I want to watch a true classic movie as well, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp. It's based on a story by English writer Roald Dahl. And the reason why I like the movie, is because of the scenery/surroundings/decors. Of course it's a children's movie, but I think also adults could watch it as well.
All the stories of Roald Dahl have a lot of imagination, and are all very original of it's kind. I also find out that Roald Dahl did the screenplay of James Bond movie 'You only live twice' in 1967. The story mainly took place in Asia and, especially in Japan. At the end of the film you see a special Japanse funural ceremony and Japanese wedding ceremony. And of course the Bond song 'You only live twice', which was sung by Nancy Sinatra, daughter of Frank Sinatra. And the strings from that tune were sampled of re-played by Robbie Williams, in his track 'Millenium'.
As usual I got to much ideas in my head, to see nice movies. Perhaps I could watch some of them in my holidays. I will also think for a new Youtube clip for you! So it's a little bit more waiting for you! I want to wish you a nice sunday evening!
Today was a nice day. I was very pleased to give you a nice mixtape. I used the so called 'loop'-technic in this one. I wanted to give you a bit of my own taste as well. Unfortunately Radical Rob didn't make it in this mixtape. I tried to put that one as well in this mix, but the beginning of the track didn't fit in the beats. So perhaps it will be an intro track in the future.
I started mixing the tracks yesterday evening. And tomorrow at 7 'o clock in the morning I did the finishing touch. And then it's making the visuals for the video. As well as getting the video on Youtube.
Tonight I watched the musical movie 'Wicked' on Skyonline. Although it was to musical for me, I liked the film. I like the graphics. It was done very nice. The story is a (post) story of 'The Wizard of Oz'. There's a lot of singing in the film. And for those people who don't like bad singing actors as in Mama Mia, this could be the one for you. The vocals were done very well.
I will get you right now a nice filmtip for the sunday! The range of the lashed out vocals was tremendous. Ariane Grande and other Cynthia Erivo both did sing both very good. So if you are into musicals, or musical films, this movie could be the one for you!
It's half past 9. I am going to sleep now. I wish you a nice evening!
Some words from me. The last few days I did listen to a lot of mixes by others. I am always trying to learn from others. I am still working to find out my own way of making mixes. And I hope that I could make a nice mix this weekend, especially for you. As I said, the theme will be ´house classics´. I am still thinking which tunes I want to use in the mix.
I heard some nice tunes today in another mix, containing the magical Radical Rob tune ´Monkeywah´ which was a big underground hit back then, and the Candy Rippers with ´Feelin´. I also think of using First Contact´s ´I call upon (April Fool)', which has a nice drive and beautiful melody. So I am still not sure what tracks I am going to use.
Tomorrow will be a working day, and this weekend is the time to make your dreams come true with nice music! I still want you to move on your dancing shoes, having a great time! So just be patient. I am thinking about my health right now. So that's why the frequency is a bit low at the moment.
I am sorry I didn´t post a new video online. Last week was very busy and exciting. The fuss was about my health. The past months I got some pain in my left arm, elbow and fingers. And sometimes I even got some pain around my heart. So I did have some research in hospital last week.
There isn´t a diagnose yet, but it looks like that my heart doesn´t get enough oxygen. And other parts as well. So about two weeks I got some more tests, to rule out possible problems. I took some rest right now! But I wanted to share this with you. In the near future I will put some videos, but certainly not everyday!
I am wondering how I am going to sleep on my bed. My sister's cat is staying at my home, and he likes to take over my whole bed as his sleeping basket. You'll have to make some sacrifices, if your biggest fan is coming to stay for some time! But I think I will attrack him with wet pet food. It always work!
I didn't want to get a new track on Youtube, but I finally found one on my computer. San Soda's 'Doorsnee' was taken from 'The Super Pim Pam Pet EP'. And for the Benelux people Pim Pam Pet is actually a game, with questions to answer. And I think it's always nice to have a game evening or sunday.
The past years with public holidays and birthdays, the board games were on the table. I heard a rumor from my sister that we play Monopoly at Christmas! In our local supermarket there's even a monopoly edition with all streets/buildings of my town.
We have a edition from the seventies or eighties, containing all kind of streets in Holland. And of course banknotes in guilders, instead of EUROs. I like the game, but after playing it about an hour I got fed up with the game. It takes to much time to play!
I am more into Jenga, making a tower full of wooden blocks. You'll have to pick up a wooden block without that the tower collaps or fall down. I also bought a 100 games box, with games like 'Mens-erger-je-niet (In English called Ludo)', 'Snakes and ladders', 'Chess', and so on. But the favourites are still 'Tri-Ominos (Triominos in Dutch)', 'Domino' and 'Rummikub'. Those games are real brainteasers.
And I also got you a tip. If you have an old table. You could buy a table tennis set. My sister and I did play it last year at christmas. You could put the net on your dinner table. The ping-pong-balls were light-weight. And then you could play. If you don't have bats, you could also use Agenda's with hardcover (just think of school playing Table Tennis without many bats) or books with hardcover.
Enough said, I am coming back to my first alinea. Tomorrow there's work to do, so I am going to sleep now! It's time for Wet Pet Food for my visitor.
As promised I will do a small blog about explicit lyrics/expressions in tunes and the reaction of those tunes in the begin Nineties on Dutch Radio. Singing about love and sex is of all times. Who doesn't remember the soft erotic track 'Je t'aime' by Serge Gainsbourg, with the vocals of Jane Birkin. The rumor at the time was that Jane wasn't singing the vocals but the beautiful actress Brigitte Bardot. But it's Jane Birkin who sang the vocals.
I don't know about that tune if the national top 40 played the tune on national radio, but it was a controversial tune back then. The first tune I want to mention is a tune by house producer Lil' Louis. The track was called 'French Kiss' and everybody remember the track because of the video. There was a small child who was playing with all kind of toys, and especially a toy monkey was drumming in the clip.
What was so special about the tune? Well, actually the track started as a 120 BPM track and about three minutes, the track begins to slow down until 80 BPM. It is also the moment why ´female kissing samples´ started in that break. When the record is on it´s slowest point, the track starts to become faster until the same speed of the beginning, also with those samples and the track will end about 10 minutes.
As you will probably know Holland is a country where a lot is tolerated, but on Dutch Radio and TV they draw a line with sexual content. And in this case the track did reach the number one position. Did they play the record on telly or on Radio=
Yes they actually did. But the commercials or the DJ started before the record went slower and the then shocking samples began. There was also another issue, sexual content on MTV and TMF was allowed after 23.00 EUT. Some more information about ´French Kiss´ is that the originally tune didn`t have the sexual content. The original track was from 1986, and in 1989 FFRR licensed the track from a small label Diamond records. And in England they also didn´t play the record. So they decided at FFRR to release some remixes, with actually vocals and some more edits and a instrumental version.
Second track in 1989 which caused trouble about sexual lyrics, is a tune by the HipHop collective the 2 Live Crew. The recordcompany and the 2 Live Crew themselves, already foresee, so they released two versions, the Nasty version and the Clean version. On Dutch Radio they broadcasted the Clean versions, with quite decent raps. This tune did make it to the number one position as well.
I think the 2 live crew was inspired by Tone Loc. Tone Loc did release some ´Wild Thing´ (1989) and 'Funky Cold Medina' (1989). Both tunes also have explicit lyrics, but the rap lyrics weren't that explicit. So both tunes were played on Dutch Radio and on Television. I'm asking myself, if both tunes nowadays will be played, because of Woke.
The ground was full of hairs when the hairdresser was ready with the result. Even the door couldn´t be opened when leaving the hairdresser. I was very happy. And also I went to the biggest recordstore in my town. It looks like an average recordstore which you have in the UK.
I always pay a visit when I am in town. It´s something from the past. Grabbing in rows of CDs, to find that one particular CD you want to have. I also looked in the vinyl departement as well. But I am more into CDs now.
This recordstore is a bit different comparing to the vinyl recordstore which I visit very often in Rotterdam, which has all kinds of house and techno vinyls. The collection of this store contains of kinds of styles, from K-Pop till eighties Rock, from Dance to New Wave, from DJ Paul Elstak till the Simple Minds. And guess what, I bought something from the last group I mentioned, The Simple Minds. In Dutch we call them 'de Simpele Geesten'. A group which started in the seventies and is still very active. Front vocalist is Jim Kerr.
They are from Scotland and are considered to be a New Wave group. It's a good mixture of electronic but also guitar rock. The album I was looking for was 'Once upon a time', and then the special edition with some nice B-sides and 12'' versions of the hits on that album. I mentioned the hits before, but I can tell you some names again: 'Alive and Kicking', 'All the things she said', 'Sanctify yourself', 'Ghostdancing' and I will go on. It's a true jewel for the 80s fan.
And there's something special on this edition. When the album appeared in 1985, the biggest hit of the Simple Minds isn't on it, 'Don't you (forget about me)'. It has something to do with a movie, 'The Breakfast Club'. It was released on the soundtrack of that movie and on several format as 7'' single and 12'' single. Now 40 years later, the track appeared where it belongs, on the 'Once upon a time' album.
Originally my mother had the music cassette, which you could play in your walkman or on the radiocassette player in your car. And I can tell you on holidays I have heard that album a lot, just as a lot of U2 albums from that era. I was a little boy back then, but I still remember the lyrics of those albums and tracks.
I am very pleased with the CDs. The long versions all sound very nice. There's even a B-side with the US remix of 'Promised you a miracle', which I also liked from the New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84)-album. You would think it will be Sinterklaas if you ask me.
And the good old man also reached our city today! A lot of people and children were in the city as well. Just as I was. I am very sorry, but today it's a rest day and I have decided to pass one day with a new clip on Youtube. Hopefully I could get you one tomorrow! Otherwise it will be too much. So have a nice saturday night.
Finally I do visit my hairdresser tomorrow, to cut of some of my hear. Unfortunately I wasn't able to visit them earlier because I was a bit ill. And then they had no time for me until tomorrow. It's always nice when it's in shape. And I also go visit a big recordstore as well in the center of my town. It's not a real store for dance music, but I like more then only dance music. Hopefully I will find something nice in the shelves.
Besides of 80s and 90s dance music I also collect twelve inch versions of 80s and 90s pop/disco/R&B classics. After classic series like Grand 12 inches by Ben Liebrand, and Dance Classics, I now follow a 12'' series on CD by Universal called 'Now 12'' 80s'. They started in 1980 and the next CD will be about 1986.
Long versions and remixes from that era were all remixed with outtakes of bands, and doesn't sound according to a plan/12 inch song structure. It was all done with tape recordings, cut those outtakes in pieces and then paste/glue all those parts on big tapes on a taperecorder into new versions with all kind of elements.
I think a lot of people couldn't imagine working without computers and programmes like Abbleton, Music Maker by Magic, Cubase, etc. But in that era it was very normal. And it costs more time and efforts than nowadays. Also the glueing of the tape pieces is very difficult without making mistakes or losing quality of the transitions.
I am searching at the moment for long versions of Simple Minds, Tears for Fears and some other New Wave bands. I saw the CD compilations already with some of the versions I want. I always listen on Youtube if the versions I hear, are usefull for my mixes. That's very important if I want to buy those CDs. And of course the quality of the sound.
I will tell you more very soon! I am now going to see a christmas movie, before I am going to sleep. See if my tooth will be melting again because of the much sugar which was used in the movie itself. Using Netflix, because I don't use it too much!
Today was a special day. For the first time since secondary school, I made a flower arrangement with floral foam (steekschuim in Dutch). You put the foam in flowerpot and you make the foam a bit wet. Then you could place all kind of flowers and other pieces/things in the foam. I did this at my work with my departement.
It was very nice. When I began I thought I will not succeed, but later on I was happy with the result. And that counts. Taking part is more important than winning. Same thing as I play games with christmas. When I was a little boy, I always wanted to win. But now, it's important that I complete an assignment with a nice result for myself.
I will not give some flowers away like this. It was a bit of a mess. But I like the result. A few time ago I had to saw some branches. In the past my father learnt me how to do it. But at that time I gave to much power, so I got problems with my hands, a sort of pain. And last time I did it much softer and I did it much better.
I think age is a very important factor, getting milder and smarter. My father didn't understand back then why I don't want to do jobs around the house. He always wanted to correct me while he couldn't do it himself. Everything I do was wrong. That's one of the reasons, why I want to give other people compliments, because I didn't get any good response from my father back then. He was awfull.
Giving people compliments works for the ones you give one. But it also makes me happy! I like to see people happy. Especially when it are my beloved people! I experienced a lot in the past in a bad way, and I want to change it into something good. Shouting at people isn't my way, just as correcting people while you aren't much better.
I am still learning to ask people questions about other things then my own interesses. My view is very narrow. Of course of my autism, I am very narrow with things. For people who didn't already know, I know much about house music between 80s and 10s, food, drinks, and some other things. Asking questions to other people will learn you new things. And just as about giving compliments, you will learn about someone else.
Talk about hobbies makes people happy when they are talking about what they like. And I think that's very nice. Oke, sometimes it looks like an interview instead of a normal talk. I agree with that. I hope it also gives the other party a sign of interesse. And I learn more about their way of thinking.
I think it's enough thoughts for today. Hopefully I am going to sleep very well tonight. Without any stress in my shoulders. I stressed a lot the past months.

Bonjour mes amis et amies,
The ground was full of hairs when the hairdresser was ready with the result.
Yours Sincerely,
Sinterklaas eh Hinco

Hello everybody,
Finally I do visit my hairdresser tomorrow, to cut of some of my hear.
Your weekend has just began! Have a nice friday!
Yours Sincerely,
Hinco

Hello everybody,
Today was a special day.
Yours Sincerely,
Hinco
