The Music Must Go On
The Hong Kong recording industry body IFPI (Hong Kong Group) Ltd in response to global call for Covid-19 relief rolled out The Music Must Go On project to help the industry to regain confidence in sustaining the business. The project is supported by Create Hong Kong (“CreateHK”) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in funding. The Hong Kong Recording Industry Alliance Limited (HKRIA), the Music Publishers Association of Hong Kong Limited (MPA) joined as Supporting Organization.
Through active participation by local labels and music professionals to remake and modernise Chinese evergreen hits that spanned over 40 years, the music lovers will enjoy a spree of 113 new releases around Chinese New Year in 2021. 98 local artistes and bands and 55 labels took part. The project created over 800 external jobs.
Local media joined in support of this unique program.
