Shift: The Project to End Domestic Violence is creating the social conditions to end violence across Alberta and beyond. The first research hub of its kind in Canada to focus solely on stopping domestic and gender-based violence before it starts, Shift is situated at the University of Calgary Faculty of Social Work and led by Lana Wells, the Brenda Strafford Chair in the Prevention of Domestic Violence.
Through innovative, evidence-based solutions, we work to advance systems change, policy, and practice at local, national, and global levels. We collaborate with researchers, policymakers, organizations, and communities to develop, test, and scale prevention strategies that address the root causes of violence. By equipping leaders with the insights and tools they need, we aim to build safer and more equitable communities for everyone.
Prevention is possible — together, we can create a future free from violence.
