Planet Dog Records

Planet Dog Records was founded in 1993 as an offshoot of the Megadog event organisation. The label was formed in order to provide an outlet for some of the electronic bands that were appearing at Megadog’s live events around the UK. Planet Dog was one of the UK’s first electronic music labels conceived primarily as an album-based platform rather than a label focussing on ‘DJ-friendly’ 12” singles. Consequently, much of the label’s output has retained a timeless quality that has remained popular with electronic music fans over the years.
Five artists were signed to Planet Dog over its seven year history with many more releasing individual tracks via a string of compilation albums released on the imprint during those years. The back catalogue of four of those artists is still released by the label and these include: Eat Static, Children of the Bong, Timeshard and Future Loop Foundation.
