Rajendra B. Aklekar (born 1974) is an Indian author with multiple best-selling books on transport history and heritage. He is the biographer of India’s legendary railway engineer Dr E Sreedharan. He is also a working journalist with about 32 years’ experience writing on Mumbai’s public transport and infrastructure. His interests include railway history & heritage, public transport & infra, archiving & documentation and is also a trained museologist. He is presently employed with one of Mumbai’s oldest tabloids, Mid-Day, as Deputy City Editor. With museology from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya (formerly the Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai, Aklekar is also a Google-certified Digital Marketer. His first book with Rupa Publications ‘Halt Station India’ was short-listed at Bengaluru Literary Festival 2015 for best Non-Fiction of the Year. He has worked in numerous prominent print publications.

BKC-Kurla will get fancy pod taxis in #Mumbai. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) in its Authority meeting on Tuesday approved the pod taxi project between Bandra and Kurla via BKC on a stretch of 8.8 km.

Vande Bharat train for Jammu & Kashmir!
The 49th #VandeBharatExpress train has been allotted for the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link. Last week, the Northern Railway conducted a successful 15-km trial run of an electric train for the first time from Banihal to Khari Railway Station in Ramban district.
Two others for CR and one with a high-rise panto for WR.

KEY DECISION: The process to convert Dadar station in #Mumbai into one cohesive unit has been finalized and the city's railways on Wednesday announced that they had formally decided to renumber platforms at the station to have a common & continuous platform numbering, staring from WR's pf 1 in the west to CR's platform 8 in the extreme east. The changes will be in effect from 9 December 2023.
