"...to the end that human rights and the rights of ecosystems shall be regarded as more sacred than property interests."
The National Lawyers Guild (NLG) is an association of lawyers, law students, legal workers, and jailhouse lawyers dedicated to using the law as an instrument for protection of the people, rather than for their repression. We support social justice movements on the ground and provide solidarity to international struggles.
Founded in 1937, the NLG was the nation’s first racially integrated bar association. For over 80 years, we have played an important role in struggles for structural change in our political and economic systems; and worked to safeguard and extend the rights of workers, women, and all oppressed peoples; eliminate racism; and protect civil and human rights in the face of persistent attacks upon them.
