www.youtube.com/playlist?list... Great album of almost entirely percussion rhythms, nominated for an academy award in 2004. Reminds me a lot of the percussion in Primal Rave

‪@laurmuses‬ has been an inspiration to me since I lived in NYC. Her tranquil and dreamy atmospheres and ethereal vocals make for a very calming musical experience. Check her out laur.bandcamp.com/track/smoke

A lot of people ask "what genre is the music of the Donkey Kong Country series?" or "Where can I find more music like that?"

What makes Donkey Kong Country great is that it contains many different genres within it:
-DK Island Swing, Candy's Love Song, Token Tango, and Snakey Chantey, are inspired by big band music of the 1940s, including artists like Glenn Miller and Benny Goodman, and the Jungle Book movie from 1967

-Bonus Room Blitz, Cranky's Theme, Steel Drum Rhumba, Bonus Time, and Swanky's Swing all contain strong elements of Brazilian Samba, or Caribbean Rhumba

-Aquatic Ambience, Stickerbush Symphony, and Forest Interlude are inspired by ambient music and smooth jazz. It might also be described as chillwave, though this genre did not exist in the 90s

-Many of Eveline's tracks often take inspiration from Jean-Michael Jarre's Oxygen album, and film music such as Klaus Dolginger's "Das Boot," Alan Silvestri's "Shattered," and Apocalypse Now

-Orchestral Themes from Donkey Kong Country 2 were directly inspired by Soviet composers such as Sergei Prokofiev and Modest Mussorgsky

-Mining Melancholy and Hot Head Bop both contain many elements of funk and soul, such as that of James Brown

-Treetop Rock and Brothers Bear draw a lot from Rock n' Roll legends such as Chuck Berry, and blues musicians like Muddy Waters

-Disco Train, Fear Factory, and Funky's Fugue are straight Eurodance, like Culture Beat

Also, look for some videos of specific instruments, such as pan flute, marimba, harp, and jazz bass

Variety is the spice of life. So if you want to hear more music like this, just listen to a LOT of music! The cultures and history of the world offer an endless supply of varying flavors and instruments, and that is well-reflected in the Donkey Kong Country series. Also check out my playlist titled "Songs that inspired Donkey Kong Country" For specific similarities.

Twitter account (twitter.com/PrinceSamlet) has been hacked by some rando. Oh well. I reported it, but I don't really expect anything to come of it

For those wondering why Donkey Kong Country 3 GBA is not being done, there are a few key differences from the SNES versions to consider:

1. The ROM size of the game was more than 4x the SNES version, which means that 4x the samples could be stored in the ROM. DKC3 GBA contains a total of 330 samples, many of which were long, custom loops that The Wise Man did God-Knows-What to create. Even he doesn't remember anything specific as it was 20 years ago

2. No one has been able to read music instruction data from the game. This means that all songs must be transcribed by ear. No MIDI data, and no separation of individual audio channels

3. Being released 9 years later, a wider variety of sample libraries and synths were available. This time period saw the rise of the digital age of music and a wider variety of sample libraries were available, making it harder to determine what Dave used

Research is being done, but currently nothing yet is possible other than Mill Fever. You can follow my progress with this Drive folder of instruments from the ROM and currently discovered sources: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-lapUXs2TJTCD6E1Ts…

If anyone wants extended versions of any of the Pokemon RSE tracks uploaded, please let me know here. The soundtrack was too large for extended versions of every track. So I'd prefer to only upload the ones people will listen to.
