A Dash of Therapy is a psychology channel with Dr Sam Barcham, a UK Chartered Counselling Psychologist specialising in family estrangement, relational trauma, boundaries, late-diagnosed autism, and emotional recovery.
Whether you are estranged from a parent, adult child, sibling, or wider family system, this is a space for nuance, compassion, and psychological clarity — without pressure, blame, or simplistic advice.
Here you’ll find trauma-informed insights and honest conversations to help you understand painful family dynamics, make sense of estrangement, build resilience, and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

What an amazing community is growing here 😍. I’m so grateful for your likes, comments, and messages! They keep me motivated to keep making videos, because I can see how valuable these conversations are.
I’m planning a series of webinars over on Substack, and I’d love your help choosing the very first one.
Which of these would you most like us to explore first? (And if there’s another topic you’d much rather see, tell me that too)

There are many deeply loving, dedicated mothers who champion their children every step of the way.
But sadly, not every child gets the mother they needed or deserved.
We need to be able to honor loving mothers while also holding space for those whose experiences were very different. Both realities matter.

A big milestone worth celebrating: my YouTube channel has now reached 3,000 subscribers 🎉
When I started creating videos about family estrangement, grief, trauma, autism, and the complexities of difficult family relationships, I hoped they might help people feel a little less alone.
Seeing the channel grow like this has been both humbling and encouraging. Every view, comment, share, and subscription tells me that these conversations are needed and that more people are looking for thoughtful, compassionate perspectives beyond blame and simplistic advice.
Thank you to everyone who has watched, subscribed, shared a video, or taken the time to leave a comment. I’m incredibly grateful to have you here.

What would make repair feel more possible for you?
For many people, reconciliation would only feel possible if something meaningful changed in the relationship. What do you think? Feel free to share what you would add in the comments.
