I wanted to share something with you guys that's cool and very motivating to me.
Chris has been on his weight loss journey.
Whenever he loses 4 pounds, he buys a bag of sugar to remind him of his progress.
This kind of symbolic representation is a pretty motivating way to continue to lose the weight.
It's very inspiring to see him push through even on the rough days to get closer to his goal.
This motivated me to put in work today.
Let's get those mind and body wins 💪

Chris and I have been really great friends for the past few years.
He is a veteran who struggles with PTSD.
When he started his exercise journey, his intention was just to lose weight.
He didn't like how he looked and felt.
He decided to start by moving his body.
From there, he worked on improving more than his physical health, but his mental health as well.
The biggest transformation he had at the time was in his mindset.
When he would talk to me in the past, it was of struggle and fear of judgement of who he was as a person.
Now, he is unapologetically himself: a hilarious dude with a great heart and a lot of grit.
The weight loss didn't come until recently, but it's been fairly consistent because he is focusing on consistency.
Giving his best even when he can only give 50 or 60% on some days.
I just wanted to show appreciation to him today because while I have given him tips on his journey, he is the one that took them and executed upon them.
He made it happen.
If you're on this journey alongside him, share your wins as well.
And if you have a TikTok, follow his.
His handle is hilarious: tiktok.com/@combat_cock

What I learned from lifting, and what I'm applying to Jiu-Jitsu now is that progress comes from a lot of struggle.
You will be frustrated at times... those plateaus will come and things will seem inconsistent.
But your consistency in there will pay off in time.
Exponential growth happens.
Work hard and keep pushing, even on the days where you have no energy or motivation to do so.
Even if you can only commit to 15-30 minutes that day.
Some is better than none - giving 100% of that 50% you have for the day is better than 0% of that 50%.
Let's get it! 💪

I've been a white belt for almost two years.
I might suck, but then again coach doesn't hand out stripe promotions so easily (my cope 😆)
I was surprised I got a double promotion this week!

I went on a diet a few years ago where I calculated my calories and only ate In-N-Out and drank protein shakes.
In 10 weeks, I was able to lose 20lbs... but it wasn't sustainable.
It was a diet that restricted a lot of my personal preferences.
From this, I slowly learned 5 nutritional truths that have helped me on my journey onwards, and I want to share them with you.
Check it out, and let me know what has helped you on your journey!

A few years ago, I was managing a rental car location where I would go in at 6:30 AM and leave at 6:30-7 PM.
I typically would get a workout in for my sanity afterwards, but driving in California traffic typically tacked on more time here.
With exercise and errands I had to run, I typically got around 5 hours of sleep a night at this time.
If you've experienced the same, I've got to hand it to you. It's not easy.
They say 6-8 hours of sleep a night is good (depending on the person, I needed 8 to feel good), so my quantity was out the window.
So for better quality sleep, I used to "pop pills".
Mostly 10-20 pills consisting of l theanine, lemon balm, magnesium, etc.
These ingredients were said to promote better sleep quality, along with some calm.
My cabinet looked like a pharmacy at the time.
I got tired of doing this nightly, so I went ahead and invested some money into creating a sleep drink with these ingredients.
And so, Drift was formulated with amazing formulators and manufacturers.
We've gone through a few revisions based on your guys' feedback, and it means a ton to me.
If you're someone who has a sweet tooth like me, or is still that young fat kid at heart, you'll love this sleep drink.
Check it out on Amazon here: www.amazon.com/dp/B092XCSH3C?maas=maas_adg_88C0316…
Today, my goal is to create a brand of supplements, snacks, and drinks that taste good, have great ingredients, and do exactly what they're intended to do.
And since I am all about Flexible Dieting, good taste and quality ingredients are a necessity.
I look forward to continue creating a brand that promotes a more active lifestyle to build those mind and body gains.
Please let me know your experience with Drift when you do try it, we are always looking to improve!

I have never really been good at anything.
In the past, when I would fail, I gave up on the thing I was trying to do.
So when I got into fitness, it was kind of funny: I lost every day.
But no matter the daily losses, or struggles... I felt good working towards something.
Eventually, I was able to handle the things I struggled at in the gym... and then more losses would come as we tried harder exercises.
Again, I felt good, so I continued to chase it... and 13 years later, I have taken thousands of L's in the gym.
You could say I am hard-headed, but also consistent. :)
In this latest video, I go over 5 exercise consistency hacks I've utilized on my journey.
Even if you stumble across the way - you'll eventually get to your goal if take these 5 concepts or hacks and make them your own.
Do it better than I have.
I hope this helps - let me know what has helped you be consistent on your exercise journey in the comments!

From depressed to the bench press, baby.
I haven't uploaded a long-form video in a while, but I wanted to make a quick video on my mental health journey and how it started 13 years ago.
It all started with movement... and since then, we've built.
I am far from where I want to be, but I'm happy with the progress so far.
If you like this kind of content, let me know and I'll make more.
In the meantime, expect more videos around exercise & nutrition for mental health!

Typically 5 weeks after New Years Resolutions, people quit on their fitness goals.
This is because of the extremes.
Extreme diets restricting everything that you love is very common.
And then when we give into the box of cookies at work… we get disheartened and give up.
What I figured out is that in order to get closer to our resolutions, we need to create a lifestyle that is sustainable for us.
We need to create a system around our exercise and nutrition that we are in control of, not one that is in control of us.
In this video, I go over some recommendations to shift your thought process around nutrition that I learned along the way.
You can watch it here: https://youtu.be/v4tr9Yxc2SI
Small steps move mountains.
I hope this helps you on your journey if you’re thinking about quitting the resolution.
Do not quit or get disheartened just yet! Let’s get after it!
