CSCS Study with Dr. Jin

If you're preparing for the National Strength and Conditioning Association CSCS exam, you probably know how overwhelming the textbook can be.

I’m Dr. Jin PT, DPT, CSCS, and I created this channel to help make the studying process easier.

When I was preparing for the exam, I spent a lot of time figuring out which concepts actually matter most. Here, I break those ideas down into simple explanations to help you study more efficiently.

On this channel you'll find:

• CSCS study strategies
• practice questions and explanations
• key strength and conditioning concepts
• tips to help you feel confident on exam day

If you're studying for the CSCS, subscribe and follow along.

And if you want a more structured review, check out my CSCS study guide below.

⚠️ Anaerobic training doesn’t just make you stronger… it changes your muscles, nerves, and even your bones.

⚠️Anaerobic training (ATP-PC + glycolytic systems) leads to 3 major adaptations:

⚡ 1. NEURAL ADAPTATIONS (first thing that improves)

👉You don’t just build muscle—you learn to use it better
↑ Motor unit recruitment
↑ Firing rate
↑ Synchronization

This is why beginners get stronger before they get bigger.
Your nervous system becomes more efficient.

💪 2. MUSCULAR ADAPTATIONS

👉 Muscle fibers actually change

- Hypertrophy → bigger muscle fibers (↑ actin & myosin)
- Type IIx → IIa shift → more fatigue-resistant power
- ↑ Protein synthesis

- Triggered by:
Heavy loads (mechanical tension)
High volume (metabolic stress)

🦴 3. CONNECTIVE TISSUE ADAPTATIONS

👉 Training doesn’t just affect muscle

↑ Bone density (BMD)
↑ Tendon & ligament strength (collagen)

- More load → stronger structure

⚠️The 40-yard sprint isn’t just about how fast you run—it’s about how well you apply force.

👉It measures both acceleration (first part) and max speed (second part).

👉A fast time usually means strong force production and efficient sprint mechanics, while a slow time can come from either low force output or poor mechanics.

🎯One key CSCS takeaway: if an athlete is strong in the weight room but still runs a slow 40, it’s not just a strength issue—it’s a problem with force direction and timing.

Sprint speed ultimately comes down to force + direction + timing.

Hey guys -

Quick tip: if you’re studying for the CSCS, start doing practice questions earlier than you think.

That’s honestly where most of the learning happens.
