Commonwealth Sentinel: Cyber Security Consulting grew out of a series of conversations over a year between our co-founders and local officials across the State of Kentucky.
Since the advent of the Internet Age, unscrupulous people have sought to exploit vulnerabilities to make money. Their first targets were business because, as the bank robber Willie Sutton said, “That’s where the money is.”
In recent years, big corporations have invested billions of dollars in building up their cyber defenses. In Fortune 500 Companies, cyber security is now a common C-Level position (CISO or Paranoid-in-Chief). Millions are spent each year to recruit and train the best and brightest people for corporate cyber security.
Businesses are still targets, but as it has become more difficult and less profitable to attack these significant business concerns, cyber criminals have turned to softer targets: Governments, non-profits, and small businesses.
