Set in the early 2000s and inspired by real-life stories from our own families, Matrescence follows Heather, a first-time mother struggling to cope with new parenthood. Isolated, overwhelmed, and unheard, she reaches breaking point — and finally admits the truth: she needs help.

Matrescence was created by a team of passionate emerging filmmakers, several of whom have connections to postnatal mental health. The film aims to raise awareness and reflect stories that often go unspoken.
