‪@AnthonyRodriguezz‬ assembled some vintage lens enthusiasts to talk about why we enjoy shooting with them. Some names you might recognize in the video, others you might not (but should). Check it out while you enjoy a night cap/morning cup or are cleaning the kitchen and just need to distract yourself.

Happy St Patricks day! Somehow managed to squeeze out a video the last few weeks here and there in 25 min intervals lol. Going to drop it Sunday Funday, just want to polish a few elements. This one gets a bit "scientific", but just wanted to talk a bit about the elephant in the room when it comes to some old lenses.

Maybe i'll do a premiere just to have a little live interaction. Will update when I figure it out.

Hello all! An update nobody asked for, but figured I'd keep everyone in the know. Been experimenting with shorts the last few days and Monday-Friday for the next two weeks i'm going to drop a new one at noon. Lens focused, I'm mainly just experimenting with the format, trying to consolidate my much longer lens reviews into their own entity that cherry picks the most interesting bits for that short format hit.

I really don't have any expectations other than creative curiosity and if it's something I'd like to incorporate into the work flow. There is a place for short form content and my goal here is to pack as much into the 60 seconds as possible.

Anybody shooting any interesting lenses these days? Leave them in the comments, I can't promise I'm not going to be making a list based on those results.

VIDEO IS UP! Thanks for all who contributed to the decision making. In a void here so it's nice to hear from the people who I try to make these videos for. Happy Holidays everyone! Wishing you all the best and thanks for a great year!

Question for you all, working on what could be the last video of 2022. I say "what could" because I'm just not sure if it makes sense to drop it before or after new years. I usually like to drop videos on Saturday's but that's Christmas Eve, so maybe I drop it Thursday or the Friday of this week? Or do I just park the the thing until 2023 and say good riddance to videos for 2022 because it's been such a smashing year.../Sarcasm.

I honestly don't know, why I can't make a decision boils entirely down to this platform constantly breaking my expectations so happy to have the people who take a minute to watch them have a say.

I'm ALL ears!

Figured I should probably drop by and say something. I try not to waste time with updates/saying something unless there's something relevant to say. For me it's the same old story, super swamped working on a series that's quite demanding of my time. You know that feeling when you run a marathon (or a half or just 5k) and at the end of it you feel great for a job well done, but while you're in it it's a total cluster bomb and you're like "why do I do this to myself?" That's the stage i'm in currently, I've got a few scripts on the go for developed ideas, but no gas at the end of the day to shoot.

Unfortunately for me, if I can't put 100% of my energy into a video for this platform (even though nobody's asking for it, or nobody's paying me) I can't help but treat it like I do with anything I work on. I don't want to waste my time and most importantly I don't want to waste YOUR time if I can't put 100% effort behind it. I'll get back into a more consistent groove eventually...until then, if you don't have ENOUGH to watch lol.

A long time friend and colleague of mine (who's the most talented DP I've ever worked with) did shoot a beautiful (silent) camping video with his g/f and his dog. It's a great example of images without words and how they can tell a story, but also a nice visual experience to virtually get out of (in my case, the edit suit). He's best known for the tv series Departures (travel, check it out as well), Descending (a travel underwater dive series) and a Sailing series (Over the Horizon) so he's no slouch when it comes to capturing enticing visuals.

Go check it out if you've got 12 mins, make sure your HDR is turned up, drop him a "hello" as well. If you're still on instagram check out @andre_dupuis for some photographic magic.

The next step is to get him shooting with vintage lenses ;) when I get the Ironglass mark II's back, I'm going to get him to shoot something that really demonstrates their value ;)

Thanks for your time, hope everybody is doing well/keeping healthy and finding inspiration!

Had to do the last video just to remind myself how to make videos for the channel again. I'll have a new video ready for Saturday, anybody guess what the subject is ?

Holy CRAP I MIGHT have just written a script outline for a video I don't HATE. It is midnight and had a particularly busy day so my judgement may be heavily compromised so ask me again in the morning.

Holy it's been a minute and a half. It's weird usually ideas for videos come very quickly to me, but for some reason I can't quite land on a subject to post a video about so I just haven't. Apologies sincerely, but unless I see some sort of value in the subject I can't be bothered to waste everyones time lol.

I was shared this wonderful article on Greig Fraser and some of his philosophies when it comes to shooting (and using vintage lenses) so thought I'd share it. I've been saying this for the past few years, but in the end it matters most WHO says it and Greig can eclipse just about anything I can do/say.

I should be back in the saddle soon, if anyone has any ideas leave em here, might help get this old engine started.
