Skillled on the hammered dulcimer and acoustic bass since childhood, Collins Trier has been an integral part of Chicago's vibrant music scene for decades. A member of the Lyric Opera Orchestra since 1980, Collins is the principal bass of Music of the Baroque and has also served as principal for numerous other ensembles, including Chicago Philharmonic, Fulcrum Point New Music Ensemble, Contemporary Chamber Players (University of Chicago), Present Music (Milwaukee), Chicago Opera Theater, and many others. As a rock, folk, and pop artist, Collins has toured with Broadway productions and performed with groups such as Earth, Wind & Fire, Pete Townshend, Deep Purple, and Yes.
