The Grafenberg Disciples

Swiftly flipping through styles like a sonic Swiss Army knife, The Grafenberg Disciples serve up a song for every occasion. In one breath, a head-bobbing bass line will incite a dancefloor fit. The next, the energy curls into a prog-ified pop freakout underlined by virtuosic instrumentation and uplifted by simmering vocals meant for a glorious head trip. If Robert Fripp produced Steely Dan, it might sound something like this! The duo—Hans Eberbach and Bob Madsen—will keep you guess guessing (and coming back for more) with their 2021 full-length debut album, Johnny On The Spot.

Now, they introduce themselves with the 2021 single “No Words.” An homage to Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart, all proceeds from the song and its blockbuster music video to the Cedar Sinai Special Research Program For Glioblastoma, which tragically claimed Neil’s life. The eight-minute track winds through moments of lush piano and laidback percussion before building towards a sweeping and upbeat crescendo.
