Hi there, thanks for checking out my channel!
My name is Zach and I’m an adult chess improver. Well, maybe not a complete adult improver, as I did learn the game of chess as a kid and played a little bit in primary school. However, I would say that I only started taking chess seriously around 2023 (age 26).
Like many of us who play chess, I can’t deny that my goal is to improve at the game and ultimately increase my rating. This will certainly involve some hard work and deep study. That being said, I believe that one of the main barriers for long-term improvement in any activity is giving up on it (because it’s not fun anymore, say, or you don’t see consistent improvement). Therefore, one of my main aims for this chess journey is to keep things fun and have a ‘light’ relationship towards my rating (easier said than done!). This challenge, which I see as a psychological one more than anything else, is as much a focus for me as the chess itself. Here’s to slow, long-term improvement!
